IMO its as good as being first up on the chopping block to shoot one. I just like being in the sheep mountains and my drive to be "the shooter" is there but certainly not priority. I just like to go and I have been blessed to take 2 sheep and Lord willing will have a chance to get one or two more before its all over but helping others get animals off the hill is just as if not more of a challenge and rewarding for me.

Amen. I'm 2nd/3rd shooter or non-tag holder on at least half the hunts I've done in the last 7 years. Good times on almost every one of those. I have zero room on my wall for a B&C brown bear, but was more than happy to go to Kodiak this spring and pack one out. I will always remember the adventure, and all it cost me was some airline miles. If you have the skills and a connection, sheep can be done the same way for some people.

Really? We all make choices to live/work/vacation where we do. I have no problem getting away from work for 3-4 weeks a year to hunt and fish. If your work schedule doesn't allow you to get away for a week or two, find a new job. The first question in any job interview I've had is how much leave do I get a year.

I moved to Alaska 6 years ago, the main reason... to hunt sheep. I guess you could say "I live to hunt sheep?" Not sure though, what say you Luke. :p

I get 6 weeks vac, but I'm married with a kid who is in the hospital a lot, and my family lives out state, all of which eats vacation, so I can swing an 8 day elk hunt, and not much more....the bottom line is my life is not built around hunting, and the folks who go often have a hunt centric life ......and it's way too late for me to change now ...but I am curious about lifestyles of those who've chosen that route....and I thought about living that lifestyle for a few moments in my younger, but decided it wasn't for me
