Hello Gentlemen. My name is Matt and currently live in WA. I just found this site, and just joined tonight. On me: I mostly hunt chukar with my bird dogs all season. Recently moved here from TX, and I can say that all the public hunting land for chukars is incredible..... not much public land in TX.

Anyway, I'm looking for a die-hard who actually likes "pain" to hunt Snowcock with me. All my past hunting buddies that would trek up the mountain have all retired on me. I first hunted snowcock in 1998 and have hunted the Ruby's many times since, with 4 birds taken. So, not looking for a guide, just a fit person with the crazy love or just idea, of hunting snowcock. Thanks

Welcome to Rokslide. If you're hunting the Rubys, consider putting up a post similar to this in the Game Birds section. I suspect there's some guys here in Northern Nevada who would love to have an experienced and seasoned partner to endure that with.

Good work getting out of Texas! I lived there for 5 years and it sucked! I live in NV now and do a lot of chukar hunting and last year finally made a trip to the Ruby’s just for snowcock. I’ve hunted the Ruby’s many times for deer/elk. Anyway I’m definitely going back this year for snowcock again. We found them on our last morning but ran out of time. I’m happy to discuss it further through PM.

Snowcock is the only bird species I have shot a double on with the very first 2 birds of the species shot at. I think I will pass since its probably not going to get better. I hunted Mountain goat in the Rubys as well. Magnificent country.

Attaching an article a friend of my father's and one of my best friends wrote about one of our Snowcock Hunts. Many memorable events on the hunt, some of which made it into the article. Some of you sheep hunters may know his name as he's known around the world in that area. Pat was the first to shoot a male and female Snowcock after hunting for Snowcocks was permitted. Anyways, hope you like the article as we all were successful on this hunt.

I never hunted them but saw them many times while hunting the Ruby's. I didn't know they existed until I came across one during a stalk and said to myself "WTF is that?". Once I got home I got out my bird book and figured it out. No internet back then to search for what I had seen. Good on you for going on those wild goose chases :D
