I’m a major -08 homer but this argument is irrefutable.

6.5 Creed.
My dad has a 7-08 shooting factory 139gr interlocks. It’s a hammer on whitetail and it broke a shoulder in half on mature mule deer buck. I’ve always been impressed with it. That’s why i was leaning toward it, but there’s just so many more options with the 6.5 cm

Gosh, a 140 gr bullet in any of these three calibers all work great: 7mm-08, 270 win, or 260 Rem/6.5 creed.

For kiddos reduced loads with lighter bullets can help start them out with low recoil and work up as they get more used to recoil.

The 270 will have more recoil than the other two, and be almost identical in recoil and ballistics to 6.5 PRC (out to 500 yards anyway). I wouldn’t want to push it on a kid, but if they aren’t bothered by recoil there’s no reason it’s not a great step up from 243. A million kids have graduated from 243 to 270.

Sounds like fun and there are no bad choices.
I’m a .270win voter, ammunition is a no brainer , and cheap, 130, 140, 150 grain ammo, I shoot a Winchester m70 featherweight, but a savage 110 apex has a component stock that can be made kid or adult friendly and my buddies wife’s favorite rifle shoots lights out with 140gr Sierra game changer

The featherweight has to be one of the nicest looking rifles ever made.

I forgot about the Apex and I've bought 2 for a lady and a kid. 6.5 creed and 243. Both pink camo ;)
Maybe that's why I forgot.

For kids recoil and muzzle blast matter. So does fit. If it is really for kids a kid size 243 or 6 creedmoor if they make such a thing would be my choice. I started my kids with a 243 shooting “lite” ammo, both handloads and hornady lite ammo. They started about 10 yrs old. If kids older a larger rifle would be ok. In that case 6.5 creed is great choice but a 270 is not bad considering you can buy lite recoil ammo (even less recoil than 6.5 cm) from several makers until ready to handle regular loads

The 120 BT is an angry little bullet indeed, but the 6.5 CM is the easy button.

And my primary shootin’ iron is a 7mm-08. And my backup to my primary is another 7mm-08.

I have four 6.5 Creeds. Three rigged up pretty nice. They seem to stay hid unless a lady or kid is hunting with me. Change is hard

If you don't want to go with a .223 get a 6 ARC. My 10 year old son killed his first deer with one this season. He's able to shoot it a lot to practice and not get discouraged because of the recoil.

I'm not to familiar with how a .243 shoots personally.
But there is very little recoil. Factory ammo is pretty accurate and every store I go into has it on the shelf for less than $30 a box. Plus you get the benefits of heavy for caliber in factory offerings.

He’s already got a .243, I’ll bet there’s a lot of overlap between it and the 6 ARC.

Im not looking for a .243 or similar caliber. I’m looking for the 120-140 grain range offerings that comes in a lightweight platform that me and my children can both shoot. From the input I’m stuck between 6.5cm and 7-08.
