The land of big bucks and decent bulls
Yes sir. If you read the article and or studies you will understand why the study is still relevant. Hunters and wolves don't target Elk in the same ways, hunters are either filling the freezer or looking for a trophy bull based on rack size. Wolves do an exceptionally good job culling the weak which does a great job of creating a stronger herd. There is a place for both but wolves do things that hunters do not which benefit the total population health.

My view is that *IF* the decision was made based off of sound science and not politics or emotion on either side then delisting should be seen as a victory for wolves and all of wildlife and the ESA has done its job.

Hopefully they will be placed under effective state management and the system will work as well as it has for most other species.

WA state has "managed" the wolf population so well that it only costs the taxpayers hundreds of thousand dollars to kill a bunch of them each year from helicopters and reimburse ranchers for their livestock that was ripped apart by them. But you can't hunt them. I'm sure other states are soon to follow our leadership (unfortunately).

Message sent. If I hear back form him with an opinion I'll post it up!
@Life_Feeds_On_Life, Better late than never, I finally did hear back from Jim Heffelfinger who wrote that article for the mule deer foundation regarding his opinions on that March 2020 research study I posted earlier this month on wolf re-introduction that got some forum members a little bunched up. Nice when a pro actually takes the time to respond to a complete stranger on IG.

It got lost in my IM's earlier this month but here's his response:
