What is a good work boot for a factory setting? The company I work for buys us boots every year. I was thinking about getting some Lowas with the leather lining.

What's your recommendation? I work in a machine shop.

I used to really like red wings back when I worked on my feet all day, either construction or in a power plant.

What's your recommendation?
The one that fits your foot the best. You need to try them on. Go to your local work boot dealer and have them fit you.

Personally, I keep going back to the Red Wing 2238. There are similar models if you need other features like electrical protection or metatarsal guards. Some Red Wings (2238 included) come with excellent insoles. I have actually used my Red Wing insoles in Lowa and Asolo boots.

I work construction doing commercial flooring. I switched to Keens and stopped looking most comfortable work boot I have tried, i also have wide feet their steel timberland se is the only only i have found that is a true wide. I had a pair of timberland and the sole snapped in half in winter on a remote job.

When I worked in heavy industry pulling 12 hour shifts on my feet all shift I really liked my Red Wings. Excellent, well made work boots that were very comfortable and durable.
Are custom boots an option? If so, Whites or Nicks custom boots are fantastic. I wear a pair now and am very happy with them.

The new Whites are junkers. Not worth it IMO but if it's your company paying for them I guess it won't matter to you. Nicks are a much better boot.

I am a diesel tech at a large mine, I like the keens for comfort but they did not hold up well, I am very hard on boots though. I have found that Timberlands have held up well and is what most of the other guys wear. I also had good luck with Carolina boots.
