Heading to Glacier National Park / Kalispell area middle August and wanting to gauge what the weather is like now, for packing and possible clothing purchases. Read some of the park roads don't get cleared of snow until June July!?

Anybody in the area? We are staying at some small cabin park around Kalispell. Maybe grab dinner and a drink or 3

I'll never understand why people come here in August.

It'll be hot as hell and you mostly likely won't be able to see your own hand from the wdfire smoke.

Right now? Is been raining on and off and it's sticking as snow up above 6,000'. August depends on the year. Definitely hot and likely smokey. Getting in the rivers will be nice but low chance of catching many views.

Mid August in Kalispell/Glacier classic nice summer weather.

Days typically 70-82°F valley, cooler at elevation 10-15°F colder at Logan Pass. Nights drop to 45-55°F, sometimes lower. Expect variable conditions layers, rain jacket, and light fleece are essential. Afternoons can bring thunderstorms wildfire smoke is possible some years.

Roads By mid August, Going to the Sun Road and most others are fully open cleared by late June early July in normal years.

Packing tips Shorts t shirts for days, long pants jacket for evenings hikes, good rain shell, sturdy shoes. Kalispell is milder than the park itself.

Hit me up if you want local dinner recs when you're here enjoy the trip!
