Getting older has perks…

The biggest perk for me has been the ability to schedule hunting and fishing whenever I feel like it. Having your health and the time to do the things that really matter have been a blessing.

AND.......you can easily schedule doctor appointments to fit your hunting/fishing schedule! 🤕

Yep , turned 65 this year and here in Oregon I am eligible for the Pioneer license, now only have to $11 for my hunting and fishing license. Yippee!

In Oklahoma, at age 65, you qualify for a "Lifetime" hunting and fishing* license for a one time fee of $25.
No more $20/ea deer tags.
No more $10/ea turkey tags.
No more annual hunting, fishing or combo tag.

* - at age 65, ODWC doesn't require a fishing license of resident or non-resident

The cheaper license is nice but I have worked hard most of my professional career to never miss a hunting day of the 5 week season.

Being retired says I can spend weeks cutting out trails and exploring. I only take work to pay for fuel, repairs and horses. The only drawback is that most of it is by myself because family and friends are still working.

Once dementia sets in:
1) you can make new friends everyday
2) you can hide your own Easter eggs
3) you can wrap your own Christmas gifts
4) I forget! 🤔
5) you can wake up in a different world every morning (like being on vacation! staycation?)
