Gear: what's your most abused or shortest life.

! I also am hard on optics. I've sent back my Nikons, my Viper HD's, 3 Zeiss Conquests, 2 Premier Heritage, and Vortex Razor for repair/replacement. On the plus side, they have all been fixed or repaired with no questions.

You need to look at Nightforce and SWFA SS and stop worrying about failed scopes.

Love new cushy smart wool socks buy them every season

Same here! I can't have enough of the SmartWool or Durn Tough! My merino gets worn constantly-literally never take it off for maybe 10 days at a time! Fortunately though, Costco usually has a cheap merino blend that works great for a base layer. When Winter snows open the ski areas and the Nordic trails, I'm there every day (midweek) until it melts, often logging over a hundred days on-snow. Since Costco merino is right around $50/set, if they're really bad, I can just toss them!

Pants seem to get abused especially in the early parts of the season with all the low lying bushes and pickers. i'm pretty hard on pants and there isn't much you can do about it back east unless you hunt in upland brush pants/chaps. Not to mention the ass wearing out from glassing while sitting on rocks out west, thankfully next year i'll be sure to have a glassing pad!

Merino Shirts and gloves take some abuse over the course of a year as well they just seem to wear out throughout the daily grind.

oh and i can't forget my Summit Climber Cables those dam things need replaced every year with new tubing shrink wrap!

I took my daughter out a couple weeks ago with the 6.5 CM and my newly installed Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14x50mm with M1 turrets. When we stopped to glass she put the rifle down with the scope laying in the dirt. I looked at her and said "You know, that's a $1200 scope. I'd appreciate it if you kept it out of the dirt".

So a couple hours later while hiking across a rock field I hear a sound and turn around and see the rifle laying on the rocks. It somehow "fell" off her shoulder and she failed to catch it. It fell right on the windage turret enough even to move it an entire MOA. I reset it to zero and hoped that all was well, but was not optimistic. Yesterday I took it to the range and it was still spot on at 200. I was impressed.

Bullets and nitrile gloves if things are going right. ;)

In reality, I'll wear through liner shocks the fastest. So far this year I've only lost a pair of my glasses that I must have set next to my sleeping bag when putting in my contacts and didn't notice when I packed everything up in the floorless tent. Pants usually get beat on the most.

Thin merino gloves wear out. I always manage to lose a windicator or two. I usually burn through a few elk reeds. Boots, not so much that I wear them out. I'm just always buying them, hoping for the magic pair I guess :)

I lost 2 pairs of about $100 gloves this year, I finally said screw that and went with a cheap pair of mechanix sand colored gloves. Honestly think I might prefer this for early season.

Socks and sock liners. Always seem to burn holes drying them too close to the wood-burning stove in the evenings...

I have a hell of a time keeping Berger VLDs.
I lose a couple hundred every year & the ones I find again are usually useless. I don't know what I'm doing wrong!
Terrible lifespan. I've honestly never known anything wear out so quickly & need replacing so damn often.
