What have you harvested with the new bullet and what yardages were they taken. Tell me what you think of it. Thanks:p

I don't like the 143 out of my 6.5 SAUM. It shot great out to 900 yards but very poor performance on two antelope I took with them this fall.
First antelope was hit at 319 yards, the bullet made a huge entrance wound and took out one lung. The buck ran about 20-30 yards and fell over dead. Major meat loss on the entrance side shoulder.

Second was an antelope doe at 464 yards. The bullet made a fist sized entrance wound and took out one lung. The doe ran about 80 yards and then stood for about 20-30 seconds before falling over.

After those two experiences I switched back to the berger vld for deer season. I shot a 2.5 year old mulie at 445 yards, the deer dropped dead on impact as they usually do with the bergers. The bullet had a bullet sized entrance wound, destroyed the lungs and heart and was found just under the skin on the opposite side. Perfect and predictable performance.

My MV is 3086 fps on both bullets.

I have heard good reports on .284 and .308 ELDX bullets so perhaps the jacket is too thin on the .264 bullets?

It is unfortunate because I really liked the bullets but not willing to take a chance on another animal.

Killed a 5x5 bull with 7 Rem Mag loaded with 162 ELDx to ~3000 fps. Shot him at a trot, 160 yds, bullet size entry and approx 3/4" exit. Hit rib and jelly lungs. He went about 20-30 yds and fell over dead.

Medium size cow elk taken at 45 yards with a 300 win mag shooting 200 gr eld-x in factory ammo. She hit the dirt and tumbled down the mountain at the shot. About a silver dollar sized entrance hole and a baseball sized exit thru the front shoulders.. I'm very happy with its performance and will continue to use it.

I took my first animal with the 143gr. in a 6.5creedmoor. Antelope shot taken at 62 yards. He was slightly quartering away. Shot entered 2.5 inches behind front shoulder and exited mid rib cage on opposite side. He ran 115 yards before hitting the dirt. No shoulder meat loss on entry side, but more than 50% meat loss on opposite shoulder and the bullet wasn't even close to hitting it. I was surprised at the amount of "jelly" meat that I had to cut off. I would estimate a 4" diameter exit wound. I will continue using for more data points.

I really like the performance I've seen this year of the 143 from my 6.5-284.
A doe at around 110 yards had a 1-1.5 inch hole through (behind ribs) deer went 40 yards. The next day I shot a buck at 310 and again at 250
With similar results. I'll keep using them

I have a hard time with bullet failures found on dead animals.

Just me.

I'd be willing to bet that more animals are killed by $19.99/box Corlokts than anything else.

Everyone has their preference but this is one of the reasons I like shooting monos. I personally find they trash out less meat, I don't have lead fragments, and most importantly I get accuracy and terminal performance on them (otherwise what is the point). They aren't a high fragmenting bullet that will jelly the entire chest cavity but they do cut a nice solid wound channel and push a hydrostatic wave as well, pick a good line through the animal to apply that damage (think of it like high speed archery) and they drop. Anyways, back to the ELD. :)

As they said in college, "D's get degrees"

But that doesn't mean I am going to hire someone with a transcript full of them.

I like my bullets to perform well also.

I think that's "B's"....

But there's nothing more rewarding than an 80 yard shot with handloaded ammo, turrets, and good DOPE.

220 eld-x out of 300RUM. 500 yards on a old cow, stoned her dead. I will keep the 168 bergers for the 7 though.

took a buck pronghorn at 100 yards straight frontal shot bullet went through chest into heart bullet opened up half way through heart and end up at the back of ribs still intact. lungs were jelly bullet dumped all energy in vitals.thd buck dropped in its tracks.

bull elk 300 yards steep down hill shot broke the bulls spine in half.

mule deer buck 250 yards high shoulder deer dropped did get a pass through. back straps towards neck were spreated from bone.

mule deer buck 300 yards shot was right behind shoulder but a little low deer dropped. did not hit bone but dislocated both shoulders.
all are 178 gr 30 cals out of 3006s

most lethal bullet I've seen. shot sgk for years won't be going back would be unethical.

I have taken two elk and a buck mule deer with the 178 gn eldx out of a 300 wsm. First elk was at 350, second at 320, deer at 270. So far I am happy with the performance. The bullet seems to do what Hornady advertises.

I've had good luck with the factory 200 grain out of a 300 win mag.
First was about a 120 pound hog on a trot at pretty close range, maybe 50-60 yards something like that I cant remember for certain. Right behind the front shoulder and exited behind off side shoulder, he flipped down the bank into a little wash out. 2" hole going in and the same going out.

Second was a deer at about 125 yards or so, frontal. Bullet went in in front of the left shoulder and out behind the right shoulder buck reared up on its hind legs and went down. Had the same size holes as the pig.

Third was a bear I shot just a few minutes after the deer when he came out of the brush and started sniffing the deer. Shot was about 30 yards, slightly quartering towards. The bullet went in just in front of the ear and went down its neck and lodged in its off side shoulder. He dropped right there and slide down the hill about 25 yards or so. I need to learn how to post pictures, I've got a cool shot of the buck and bear in the same frame.

Same for me. Wife shot a small whitetail at 100 yards. Perfect double lung, bullet sized entrance, 1/2 dollar sized exit. Dead in 40 yards. Next day I shot a 200lb buck at 150 yards. Right through the neck. Blew his spine completely in half and exited out the other side same size exit as the previous deer. I guarantee he never heard the gun go off LOL. This was with the 6.5CM as well.

This past March I shot a billy ibex with a 145 gr ELD-X out of a 270 wsm at an angle-compensated 370 yards. The bullet broke the onside shoulder and exited the offside ribs with maybe a 2" exit hole. The billy lunged forward at the impact and went right down. I'm anxious to try it on a bigger animal but all I can draw are muzzleloader tags....

I took two whitetail last year with the 143gr ELD-X at 3240fps from my 264 win mag.

First was a big bodied buck, one of the biggest bodied mid-western whitetail I've ever seen. I hit him in the shoulder at 150yds as he ran broadside to me. The bullet dropped him instantly but fragmented on the shoulder. I didn't recover any pieces large enough to weigh. Impact velocity would have still been 3000fps though.

The second was a doe at 321yds quartering toward me and downhill. The bullet would have been moving about 2750fps when it hit her and performed better. It entered the front of the chest and exited the bottom of the lungs, continuing on to break a back leg. I wanted to wait for a better shot but at last light she had not turned to offer one and it was the last night of season. The bullet exit was probably 1.5" or so.

I think the bullet does a decent job at lower velocity from my limited sample size. I don't think it's as tough as advertised for an "all range" bullet unless it's used with lower velocity cartridges.
