G5 Striker vs Shuttle T

I have not seen the new ones Nate. I still have the same three you gave me years ago. Good to hear they are similar to the Montec CS.

Yeah, no comparison on those to the ones they are putting out now. I'm shooting new 1.25" 125 gr that are awesome. They would actually shave arm hair right out of the pack with a little effort, and with a few strokes and 30 seconds on a jewellstick are as sharp as any replaceable blade head I've ever felt. Even after test shooting multiple times each, back to scary sharp in less than a minute.

I may try them out again. I like how they shoot, as they shoot just like the Montecs. But a little more durable than the Montecs. You still have your video posted on sharpening them?

There's a bunch of VPA sharpening vids on You Tube now, mine and lots of others. Several different methods. Some guys like stones, some like diamond hones, some like sandpaper. Plenty of ways to do it. Just gotta find what works for you. Personally, I wouldn't hunt with one out of the box, as it takes so little effort to get them really sharp and because I like to practice shoot first, but I suppose you could if you wanted to.

Just make sure you are getting the version of the heads with the newer coating. Those are the ones that are sharper.

The shuttle t locks are one of the better flying and better penetrating heads I've used. They are pretty tough as well.

I've had good flight, accuracy and penetration from the strikers (100gr) Will use them on elk again this year.

Edited for spelling and to add: used the 100gr strikers on a WY bull last year. 40 yards from a 60lb Strother Rush XT. Entered ribs and penetrated far-side ribs doing fantastic damage in between. Broadhead was beyond far-side ribcage poking just barely through far-side skin, but did not fully penetrate or exit skin. Bull was dead within 75 yards.

To hell with it... I am going to give the 100gr 2 blades a try. If they fly as well as my current 2 blades I am sold...

Leaning towards the strikers I think... Read that the shuttles can have some penetrating problems...

In a lot of the tests I've seen. The shuttles penetratation is always best or towards the top. I think it's because of the shape of the blades that allows for the better penetration.

Good to know, I'll defiantly check out some YouTube videos... One guy I read said that he was having problems because the blade angle is too steep for optimum cutting... Not so much in flesh, but if you were to make a bad shot and hit a shoulder.

The Shuttle T's will blow through just about everything they hit......minus the knuckle. But I don't know of any BH that will blow through one of those. I put a 125gr Shuttle T through both shoulder blades on a muley, and the arrow was laying well beyond where the deer was standing on that passthrough. I've shot them through 3/4" plywood, boards, and many BH targets. They are the strongest replaceable blade BH's I've seen.

But having said that, I shoot the Strikers as well.
