The next preliminary hearing is supposed to be March 28th. You can find the info on the Idaho court website. Hopefully Idaho court has a bigger set than Utah and throws the book at him with a felony charge. He got off easy a couple years ago.
His defense was that there were no "no trespassing" or "private property" signs anywhere along his route.

Would a felony conviction mean a lifetime firearm ban? That would be pretty significant.
A felon can’t own or use a firearm. Not sure the laws on black powder, crossbows or compound bows. Maybe he could spear them

it varies by state, some return their firearms rights after serving all of their sentence, some it's a lifetime ban

So have absolutely no support for this individual.

But I do believe in Utah the landowner has to post there property if they don't want people on it. Or it at least used to be this way.
On of my buddies grew up in UT and when I told him in Oregon you have to know where you are and nothing has to be posted he thought I was crazy.
If I remember correctly, the State proved it was properly posted.

Any and all violators are scum of the Earth. Throw the book at him so it may perhaps deter others with his mindset.

I spend some time in Idaho and when around private property if you see fence posts with the tops painted red that indicates private property. They don't need to hang a sign that says "Private Property.

Orange paint. But don't even need that anymore. Most still do it to let you know.

They change the law a couple years ago. Now it's up to you to know.

Montana has been that way (no posting required) for 20+ years, still see a lot of orange paint from the old days though.

If I recall, his first case was actually the result of multiple trespassing events and shooting an elk (which he did not recover) on the private ranch which was posted with No Trespassing signs.

Edit: according to case document, he was cited for multiple trespassing violations on a Utah private ranch in 2017. This was after he had been cited for trespassing on this same ranch in 2015. He had also had his hunting privileges suspended in 2007 (document does not state why).

So we can see that a couple outdoor publications are reporting this. How do we get the big hunting orgs to publish this story? Would mean a lot and show MF's followers this is serious if the meateaters/gohunts of the world would report on this.
