Visibly remorseful means he cried in court. That didn't work, so he went the litigation route, the wildlife board notes on it where they went to private meeting then reinstated his privileges are in the other thread that apparently Old-Cat is too lazy to look up.

You’re right. We are all so jealous that we don’t get to sit in court every few years. This year I’m hunting Buffalo in Yellowstone so I can get a taste for that sweet justice system.
I hope you get a couple of wolves out of there too. That would be sweet.

They changed his ban to about 1-1/2 years, to end just before the 2020 season started.

Wasn't the Utah deal his 3rd conviction?
This was shared a little earlier but if you look at the PDF in post #144 in the other forum, when the DWR was deciding his punishment they looked at previous history and they reference a 2015 citation for trespassing on the same ranch he got caught on in 2017 and they also reference that he had his hunting privileges revoked in 2007 but don’t say why. So yeah, his most recent Utah conviction was his 3rd and Idaho could be 4th.

Not too shabby for a famous guy. Most of them disappear after one or two convictions and are never heard from again. He keeps rising up somehow. Might be the thing someone said about his website being on top for computer searches.

He's a liar. I've read the police report. Part of this landowner's property was unfenced and bordered BLM, he had permission to use that unfenced section to access the BLM. He was specifically told he could NOT hunt any of the fenced section of the property. He shot the buck that the landowner was saving for his grandson inside of the fenced section, that they had name and picked out after running trail cameras all summer. The part he had permission to cross was almost a mile from where he shot the buck. Eyewitness saw him shoot the deer as well. He can try to spin it however he wants but the report lays out a pretty strong case against him. Including offering to pay the landowner not to press charges, and returning the rack and meat.

Alrighty, it looks like the boy has been charged quite a few times, there does appear to be a pattern.

However, I’ll throw in a caveat, it’s not unheard of for prominent people to be targeted by biased enforcement officials. I’m not saying this is the most likey scenario, but I am saying a person should be treated as innocent until proven guilty. Another thing, the nature of the crime has to be part of the equation. Trying to wreck the boys revenue streams, before a serious conviction, reeks of all kinda nasty to me,

Again, If the boy did it, he should pay the penalty, whatever that is.

Is this guy the example you want to represent you to the general public as a hunter? I think hunters are the best ones to call out bad actors amongst us and clean up our image.

There is a part in the Decisions and Order pdf from his Utah conviction that states, "As an avid hunter, it is Mr. Van Woerkum's duty to hunt lawfully and responsibly. Finally, if Mr. Van Woerkum's livelihood, in part, depends on his skillset as a hunter, then he should endeavor to be firm in compliance with the Wildlife Code and Rules."

They nailed it. Everybody that hunts has this responsibility but if you're going to take photos and film and try to show the world what hunting is, you have a higher standard to uphold. Yet, here we are less than 2 years from him getting his privileges returned and he's facing a felony charge.

The 2007 one was him hunting turkeys. I can’t remember if he didn’t have a tag or had an issue with the tag. He talks about it in the video I posted.

It’s also not unheard of for prominent people getting away with things the average guy would sit in jail for…

yeah I think we can all agree on that

Another thing, the nature of the crime has to be part of the equation.

I'd also add that the number of convictions need to part of the equation as well

Again, If the boy did it, he should pay the penalty, whatever that is.

yeah another thing we can all agree on

This guy is a real piece of work as most on here can see.

Not only is he a previously convicted poacher, but he is a giant hypocrite as well. He claims the need for free speech, but as soon as I responded to a comment on his IG about him being previously convicted in UT for poaching, he not only deletes the comment but then blocks me on IG. LOL!

This guy and his fellow supporters are a bad look for hunters in general. His use of the # for 1badfishcop is so childish and ridiculous. If he is guilty of what he is charged, I really hope ID throws the book at him and takes away his hunting privileges. A Felony is no-joke and the way he is going he will lose his ability to own firearms as well.

In my line of work, I am responsible for knowing all the rules, laws, codes etc. If I don't follow them, then I can lose my ability to make a living to support myself and my family. This guy has shown he will repeatedly put himself in questionable situations that jeopardize his ability to provide for his family. Tears in court should not stop the ID courts of punishing him accordingly if found guilty.

He's not a "prominent person." Nobody outside of the hunting community knows anything about the guy, or his troubled past. These type of guys think they are somebodies but, they aren't in the overall scheme of life. Everyone should have their day in court, absolutely, 100%. But it's quite the stretch to believe he has done the same thing multiple times, but not this time.
