It’s possible it was tagged on the leg? Not trying to defend them for sure but just pointing out that in Idaho the law says the tag is supposed to be attached to the largest portion of meat, granted when you get them out whole(and even when you don’t for most people) usually it ends up being tagged on the antlers

Not saying they didn’t have the tag on the leg originally then swapped it to the antlers but if you zoom in on that pic it sure looks like a tag.

I’m entirely too invested in this by the way. I feel like an old lady watching a soap opera 🤦‍♂️

Is that really the deer in question?
They have that photo listed in the court transcripts that they released on their website in that blog post. I can’t say for sure but it has a conversation between him and the landowner in court transcripts on there about loading the deer up. The whole thing is weird honestly. The landowner admits that he helped him load the deer into the truck. Only thing I can think of is maybe he helped him with all of that before the landowner knew he shot the deer where he wasn’t supposed to out from under his grandson or whatever the rest of the actual story is?

Im hooked.

What’s the truth?
It would make sense if mf went out if bounds and stole landowner’s grandson’s deer. That would justify the whole turning him in.

It would also mean noone else would ever get trespass permission again.

I find myself in a couple different schools of thought on this, but trying to stay objective and logical. On one hand, im really not a fan of the whole influencer types, who are essentially pimping the western hunting front for their own personal gain and ego. Yet, some have a positive influence in recruiting different demographics who may not have had someone to help guide them into hunting and fishing. In this case, I hope the evidence is substantial enough to either exonerate or convict without question. If he is found in clear violation of the law, I hope an example is made, and general deterrence for those of the like are obtained. It should be irrelevant this is his livelihood. If I were to be found in gross violation of my organizations policy I would get fired, and I keep that well in mind. We all make mistakes and I get that, but when you are in the limelight you better cross your t's and dot your i,'s. If he is found innocent and cleared of all wrong doing...as much as dislike it, an apology is in order. All I can hope for is a lesson to be learned by others who may be bending or breaking the law in efforts to stay on top.

Mistakes happen, honest people learn from them and move on. Erik already has multiple convictions and continues to show the same behavior. It's not a simple mistake on his part, if found guilty again it will be easy to see that his tactics are 100% premeditated.
Agreed, I don't follow the guy or MF so I'm a little bit ignorant to his past. But I do hope justice is served properly. If he is in fact found guilty, I hope his priors are taken heavily into consideration and penalized to the full extent possible.

Where would I find links to follow the case online?

I saw the videos on Instagram then was sent a link to blog posts on their website where they put up the blurred sections of the court transcripts. That’s the only place I’ve actually seen any of that but it’s all chopped up and you have to assume they are cherry picking only the specific excerpts from the conversation that benefits them the most.

That being said, I was recently a plaintiff in a multi year long s**tshow of a lawsuit from an accident with a negligent dump truck driver.. we were the ones doing the suing and my lawyer would have a come apart any time my wife posted anything on the internet that the other side could even think to spin against us. I’m talking even a picture of me standing up holding my baby. And that was in a clear cut case where a guy swerved across three lanes of traffic in a dump truck and hit people on the side of the road because he was reaching down playing with his phone. If they are allowing them to post this stuff all over their social media and even have discount codes that are condescending towards the game officers then maybe they are actually innocent? Or his attorneys are pulling their hair out behind the scenes every day but you’d think they’d have stopped it by the third one? I guess only time will tell.
