You know what Corbland...you are the wisest man here because you hit that damned nail squarely on the head.....it's all about the money. I knew there was some kind of benefit for somebody behind all of this controversy. There always is. You weeded it out. Now the question is...was this all planned out from the beginning? Heck, and we thought politics has no morals.
Your standards for "wise" are pretty low.

That is way to deep of a rabbit hole for me to dive into. Not saying that any of this is being done due to financial interests, just that it plays a role and both sides are benefitting from it.

Did you ever think otherwise? It's always about the money. Nothing is free in this world.

Seriously people bashing on doing basic R&D on a scope… hell I baby the ever loving crap out of my rifles but all it takes is that one time you lean it against a tree for a second and it slides off a branch or god forbid you slip in the snow and yard sale your gear.
Pretty sure it was established that if you slip and fall during a hunt, your a shitty hunter and shouldnt be in the woods.

I managed to make it through the whole thing, because I like to hear different opinions.

JVB came out at the beginning and said that this was going to be a "science based" discussion. Talked for a while about wind drift, sectional density, penetration, and shot angle. He then proceeded to finish by relaying a bunch of anecdotal stories about bullet failures, all of which (if I'm recalling correctly) resulted in a dead animal. Also many "appeal to authority" arguments thrown in for good measure.

His tone remained pretty neutral until the end where he kind of bizarrely goes off on a rant about "piss ant" calibers and "putting your money where your mouth is".

Not really showing a whole lot of open mindedness or objectivity. If you want to change my mind, cut the emotion and show me facts and data. Theres a whole bunch of that in the small caliber kill threads here.

After what just happened last night to us Canadians with more of our rights and firearms being stolen with a swipe of a pen. It has never been clearer to me that us as hunters/shooters need to stick together. How JVB has gone about this is wrong and now all the people attacking him are also wrong. Healthy discussion = Great. Differing opinions = Great.

Also side note my 25 creed laughs at all the people shooting 300s tracking their marginally hit animals. Il walk the 20 yards to where mine tipped over cause the bullet went where its supposed to.

This answers that age old question, no? Which is mightier, the sword (gun), or the pen?

I would posit that answer has changed over time as has the willingness of those with guns to use them.

A small bullet making a hole in the heart or both lungs = dead critter. Great shot, great outcome.

If the shot isn't perfect, I want the biggest hole and largest amount of cavitation and energy transfer that I can get. If that means using a bigger bullet going fast, then that is my thing.
Pic is a Berger 180 grain bullet - if that is what is taking place inside the animal, my questions are answered.

BULLSHIT! Packed snow and ice on the road are slicker than goose shit.
Last year I was walking my down a road that was covered in snow. It led down to a creek, across and up the other side. I was walking along and the next thing I know my feet are above my head. As trucks crossed the creek and splashed water on the road it froze. It was a sheet of ice. I wasn’t carrying a gun or pack, but I landed on my shoulder. I hobbled around trying to catch my breath enough to let out a few expletives.

I pulled a similar move years ago and hit my head on the ice. Probably explains alot about me.

Amen to this! This is what I want.

I personally am working towards building 3 nearly identical rifles.

1.) .223 trainer with 53 gr. Vmaxs to double as a coyote rig
2.) 6 Creed or PRC shooting 109 ELDMs
3.) 300 RUM to push a 208 ELDM fast and buck wind for the extended range shots.

All setup on Zermatt Origins with MDT HNT26s and topped with a high quality and reliable optic that maxes out at around 20-25 power.
