Flying with pelican v800

Looking at upgrading my case to the pelican vault v800 but want to know if I’ll have any issues flying with it. I spoke with United airlines and they said rifle cases are covered under their “sporting goods” description and will be charged as one of your standard checked bags. Anyone with this case or larger size rifle case had any issues with trying to be charged for over-sized fee?

Nope, you will be fine. Pretty much every airline has the same exemption. As long as your baggage agent is informed, you'll have no issues.

I've flown with mine numerous times, and had no problems.
