I think they will have to take it up in 2023 during a normal session.

The OSM regulation specialist actually reads them the law. So WSA21-01will die if the current motion is approved. A RAC may propose a new temporary action in 2022 but this die. Additionally, the board could take action in the next regulatory cycle. That is in 2023.

MOTION PASSES! WSA21-01 IS DEAD.

I think the public involvement with this WSA, all the written comments, the public hearing comments, and the large organizations engaging it have sent a massage that this continued attack on rights is not going to go smoothly for the RACs and the FSB any longer. It seems they are paying more attention to that pressure. Thank all of you.

Deferred. Until when???

2022 but really doesn't matter because the special action request was specifically for Aug and Sept 2021. They will find out that they can't just create a WSA22-01 I think. It will have to come through the whole process again. In fact, they are saying as much now.

Fingers crossed!

Pretty disappointing really when they had all the info they needed to make a decision now.

I agree, but atleast they aren’t siding with the subsistence people. They are essentially saying the data they have doesn’t merit modification and they are going to need some real evidence it does to merit cutting out a user group. That it was unanimous adds to my optimism I’ll be hunting 23 next September

That area was where my new wife and I spent our official honeymoon. We both took great caribou (she killed and field-dressed her own bull all on her own!) and we caught grayling and 36" sheefish until our arms hurt.
Literally the trip of a lifetime, dropped off by Warbelow's mail plane in Ambler.

The one thing I'll never forget was when we were offloading caribou heads, several local natives were chiding us about making sure we got all of our 'moose meat.' They didn't know the difference between caribou and moose antlers. Anecdotal, but It speaks to the fact that there are a select few pulling the political strings for the masses.
Sorry not sorry, but there is no way in hell the locals didn’t know the difference between moose and caribou.
