Just cracked this open to celebrate my 40. It's excellent.

I'm a Middleton or Green Spot guy, if it comes to a special occasion. Some of the better than standard Jameson stuff is good too.

I might go grab a bottle of that for this weekend and see if I can't reminisce about a rainy day in Dufftown about a year ago.

I was at Costco the other day and brought this home, thought I would give it a try. First off, this is some damn good bourbon! I can't remember what I paid for it and I've already thrown the receipt away but like most Kirkland products, it was not expensive. I would really like to hear what some of the bourbon connoisseurs out there have to say about this stuff.

Never mind, I just did a little bit of research and found out that it's made by Buffalo Trace Distillery. I also read a review that basically says, this bourbon taste like horse piss, haha, I guess that shows how much I know about bourbon. I am a big fan of Knob Creek but I would, someday, like to get my hands on a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle.

It's a strong 7 year Jim Beam. If you like Beam (which I don't), then check it out. Their Vodka is Smirnoff and their scotch is Glenlivet. Unfortunately due to Colorado's liquor laws only one Costco in the entire state can sell liquor, so I can't get any of their stuff without driving a long way. Last I knew it was the one in Superior for those in CO that are curious.

The Costco off of Wadsworth and I70 has a liquor store.

I'm a rum guy, so it's Ron Zacapa XO for me. But hey, Pendleton is my kinda stuff too.
If you can't enjoy it straight, it ain't worth drinking.

So I was on a mission this past weekend to try pappy and payed way too much for a glass, but if you are only going to get it once to try then why not. I ordered a 20 and my buddy ordered the 15. IMO the 20 is worth the hype, but the 15 is not. I look forward to giving the 23 a shot when I can find it for a more reasonable price (they had it for $68/shot). While the place that I went to was overpriced for a lot of stuff, they do have the rare ones in stock so it's worth it if you ever want to spoil yourself and try something normally unreachable. The next time I will try some Stagg and Orphan Barrel Lost Prophet, but I can't justify going back anytime soon as I just spent way too much on 2 glasses of whiskey (that were poured quite conservatively).

The Costco off of Wadsworth and I70 has a liquor store.

They must've changed which one sold liquor as the law hasn't changed (although the grocery stores are pushing to get it on the ballot again). Good to know.

Wow! That is pretty steep but good for you. I think we should all be doing a little bit of that every now and then, after all, we only got one go around.

Yeah, exactly. While I didn't cough up $68 for the 23 I did end up paying $48 for the 20 year. The way I figure it, that price is the only way they can keep it available year-round. There is one other place in Denver that occasionally has 23 for $40 and the 20 for $27 (they said they usually break it out around the holidays), but it doesn't last very long and I would guess that they both get the same amount of supply (the guy said approx 4-6 bottles a year of each 20 and 23).

I don't always drink but when I do, I prefer the Neutral Brandy from the Bickering Brothers Distillery in Pierre, South Dakota. I don't know if you can buy it in a store outside of South Dakota but the bottle is well worth it's weight to travel.
