Looking at a 2020 archery elk hunt either to Montana or CO. Is it worth puting in to gain a point in both states to improve hunting odds next year?
Would it take more then 1 point to draw a MT general tag?
But if you're applying for muley and elk, its only $9 more. So its not as bad as people seem unless you're only in it for one speciesFYI Colorado just doubled their preference point cost this year, around $50 previous years to just over $100 this year. Their preference point application process is pretty confusing also as this year you have to purchase a small game license to even purchase a elk preference point. Makes no sense to purchase small game license when your purchasing a big game preference point!
Thats very good information to know, definitely going back in and purchasing a mule deer PP. ThanksBut if you're applying for muley and elk, its only $9 more. So its not as bad as people seem unless you're only in it for one species
For CO it depends. How many points does it take for the unit you want to hunt? If it takes points, then yes........you'll need points.
But here's the kicker.........they are redoing their 5-year plan starting in 2020. And there have been talks of making more units draw rather than OTC, so yes......you'll need points if they go that route.
