Trying to decide between a 5mm Easton Axis Match Grade shaft in 340 spine or 300 spine. Current set up is: Mathews Halon 32 at 70# with a 28" DL. Arrow length from throat of nock to end of carbon would be 27.5 or 28 inches preferably as I shoot a 100 grain right bevel Helix broadhead. I would like to add 50 to 75 grains of brass to the end of this shaft to improve FOC but don't want to be underspined. In the past I've shot a Gold tip Kinetic 340 spine at 28.5 inches nock to carbon with 3 fletch Max Hunter AAE vanes and wraps and 75 grain Easton Brass HIT inserts. Total arrow weight for this set up was about 500 grains. This arrow tuned well out to 45 yards but anything beyond that was not consistent.

So I could potentially be underspined with a 340 shaft at 9.5 gpi. with a 28inch arrow? According to my scale adding 50 grains of brass up front with my current fletching combination would bring me to a total arrow weight of approx. 465 grains. FOC would be about 10%

Regardless of the total weight, you going to be underspined with .340 @70 28” with extra Brass up front .

Sounds good. Appreciate the input! I have always been a fan of a heavier arrow even if I have to sacrifice some FPS.

Similar set up to yours and I went with 260s as they stabilized faster for me than 300 spine kinetics. The black Eagle rampages in a 250 spined really well too but I got a deal on the axis 260s.

100 +75 brass up front with aae plastifletch 2" 4 fletch. 27" ctc length. X nock. 27.5" halon 32 @71 lbs and 75% draw mods.

I always find 250/260 spine arrows stabilize faster, make the fletching work less, and are more efficient overall. Seems like when I shoot 250/260s I can shoot bareshaft with fletched arrows out to 40 yards. When I run similar setups in 300 spine everything is really sensitive to change and finicky with everything.

Was thinking of the 260 spine also but like to keep my weight to about 500 grains. Running the 75% odds on my halon as well penetration is crazy with this bow and arrow combo

Use the rampages then... Lighter gpi. My arrow weight is about 515 with the 260s

Well, seems that I maybe under spined as well since my DL, weight, and arrow lengths are identical. Wish I wouldn't have bought another 1/2 dozen 340's last week.
