Truthfully.......nothing gets me going like rutting elk, so they are always my dream hunt. But beyond elk, for purely trophy status and putting one on my wall.........KUDU. For adrenaline.......big brownie and cape buffalo. For adventure........Marco Polo Sheep. ALL with a bow.

I don't trophy hunt (still too new at this), so for now, my dream animal hunt would be a solo DIY elk hunt where I successfully call in a nice 6 x 6 to within bowshot, make a nice double lunger, and then track him to where he's died about 50 yards from the truck. For a true guided trophy hunt, it would be red stag in Argentina, because I could actually get my wife to come with me. Ideally, arrow one early in the week and then spent the rest of the time enjoying Bariloche, Mendoza and BsAs with my wife. We had a great time in Argentina a few years ago for our 10th and I'd love to get back there.

I love elk, I still haven't gotten myself a bull and I think I want that more than anything is a nice 6x bull with my bow. Once that happens I move to the next tag I get I'd really like to get a lot of the na29, a few being cut off that list. But my dream animal is actually not for myself, my dream is to own my own outfitting business and be able to help others get their dream animal. I prefer helping others before myself and every time I do help a hunter tag his game it is very heartwarming.

I am doing the Ibex hunt this year, my (next) dream hunt would be Desert Bighorn here in AZ.

Where are you going for the ibex hunt, Kyrgyzstan or Kazakhstan? I live and work in this part of the world so PM me if you have any questions of what to expect and etc.

I have my mid Asian ibex already....but I took mine in Tajikistan. This part of the world is a great adventure!

I'm in the process of booking a Marco Polo hunt with my hunting partner for next year :D I'm excited to go back again for round two with these awesome sheep and relive the dream once again!!

Lots of good dreams listed here. My new dream hunt would be a Suleiman Markhor in Pakistan but I'm a ways away of being able to afford to chase one of those. I feel blessed to able chase the critters that I've done so far and have some awesome memories. That's what its all about in the end....amazing memories and experiences......

I would love to hunt Mountain Goat and Moose but also high on the list would be an archery elk hunt during the bugle.

For all you guys thinking about hunting NZ - just do it. I go every year and it is very easy. The hardest part of the whole exercise for me is getting firearms in and out of Australia. You can do public land for multiple deer species, Tahr and Chamois. You can also do private land hunting and it is very cost effective too - the exchange rate from the US or Canada makes it even better.

Cheers,
JWB

A guy can do this himself in AK if he puts in the time and money. If fact I bet you could find a few Alaskans willing to help ya. Especially considering the 2-legged pack horse you work with and the gear you might be able to outfit camp with.... Just saying... ;)

Agreed! There are some great non resident DIY hunts up here. Even some really really great moose permit hunts that are pretty economical

To pick just one animal as a dream hunt is difficult as I just love a new adventure. I would love to do a Henry Mountain or AZ strip mule deer, a Montana 680 bighorn, Desert sheep (anywhere), a 400 class elk (AZ or Utah), Mountain goat (BC would be my preference) and the list goes on. I have an awefully big bucket that needs filled, but it needs time and money and some luck on getting some tags.

NZ Tahr is high on the list but for some reason I'd love to get a Sable with my bow. I'd love to get a Desert Bighorn with my bow. I know where there is a 175+ but getting a tag is so tough.
