Downsides of blaze orange bino harness over other solids/camo?

Anyone know if there is a downside to getting a blaze orange bino harness? Was going the get the Fhf but was curious if it would be better to get a different solid color. I know the blaze orange won’t matter for rifle but I do plan on eventually bow hunting in Colorado too and read somewhere that the uv light reflection of the blaze orange could easily be picked up on by deer/ ungulates

If it were me, and the first or only one I plan on buying, I'd go with a more versatile solid color. I used mine a lot for turkey hunting as well as deer and small game. I also use it when on hiking or road trips with my wife. Coyote brown or ranger green don't look quite so "hunterish" when just out with the family.

That being said, I now own (3) different chest rigs/bino harnesses.

I've spent some amount of money converting to various orange layering options and a puffy for rifle hunting because I hate dealing with non functional vests, but a bino harness isn't enough surface area unto itself to serve the legal purpose of wearing blaze orange. Since you'll have to wear additional orange anyway in the form of a vest at a minimum, or a orange shirt/jacket, I see no advantage to buying an orange bino harness.

not looking hunterish is just caving to the anti hunter community...don't ever be embarrassed of your passion. Nobody else is in showing their passions.

Its unclear from your post -is wearing blaze orange caving to the anti hunter community? Or, is not wearing blaze orange caving to the anti hunting community?

On one hand, I suppose nothing says, "I'm a hunter" like a blaze orange hat on the dashboard. On the other hand, I'm more inclined to believe the intent of your post is "wear your camo proudly like Uncle Ted (Nugent) says."

Its an interesting question: Does wearing extra blaze orange make one "louder and prouder" than wearing more camo, or is it the other way around? And, if you choose to wear more camo to avoid "caving" to the anti hunters, is that a fashion statement or a philosophical stance? What if you wore a blaze orange hat with the word "HUNTER" in the largest font possible stamped across it? Is that louder and prouder than wearing a nondescript camo hat, or does camo win every time?

Should we have a "(blaze) orange pride parade or a "camo nation" parade?

The answers to these questions remain elusive to me.

I don’t see any reason for blaze orange. As mentioned above, it doesn’t meet sqin requirements for blaze anyway, you still need a vest. I agree that solid tan or green would be the most versatile. If you’re bow hunting, you might consider camo too.

Blaze orange will look stupid in photos next to your matching camo patterns. Also gives the impression you’re cowing down to the MAN trying too hard to go above and beyond minimum orange requirements. Give those non hunters a good look at a real hunter and wear your orange vest everywhere, all year. 🙂

the only reason i see a blaze orange bino harness as being useful is if you are taking them off and setting it down often while glassing. Easy to see and find if you left them behind.

It could also be useful in a situation where you are solo and have shot an animal down in a dense, thick area and need to leave something bright and visible to mark your shooting location as a reference.

for just satisfying an orange requirement i dont see the need unless you just prefer alot of orange.

I’ve often thought of getting a blaze orange bino harness for rifle season. Although I wear an orange vest, by the time I cover the front with my gray harness and pack straps, very little orange showing on front. May not be big deal out west, but for PA rifle season orange pretty important and the law.

Can’t recall ever considering if my gear made me look more or less hunterish.

I get orange. Where I hunt in WI I would like as much orange as I can get on me.

I also wear orange when bowhunting in MN, twice last year had yote hunters checking me out with their scope as I exited the field. I know thats not what they should be doing but not like I can stop them. Orange bino harness and beanie at least take away the excuse.

Pretty much anytime I am in the woods or field I would just assume have a little orange on me. I dont think critters notice and I am hoping that people do.

Agreed. I've found that I am much less likely to leave blaze orange gear in the grass on the hood etc. Plus, when it does fall out of the UTV, out of my pack or off the hood of the truck it's much easier to find.
