I don’t necessarily find having a wildfire specific agency as a bad thing given the unprecedented increase in wildfires. I think it would potentially help the admin evaluate what the true budget of the land management agencies is without the moving of target of firefighting that varies from year to year.

Could be beneficial for the land management agencies to improve the predictability of the budget every year by removing that level of variability in fire seasons. Might improve transparency on what money is being spent on.

Could also make them want to spend less in the land management agencies because the administration doesn’t value the management or research side of the agencies. Only time will tell if this truly does occur.
