"DOI will work with HUD to identify lands to offload for the development of affordable homes"

That junk doesn't benefit anybody but even if it did it's only the locals so the locals should own it and do with it what they want. Fear of the unknown doesn't justify just keeping things are the way they are without improving, that's the definition of not thinking ahead. All that checkerboard urban junk should be in the hands of the city/state, it's just an unnecessary drain on the Feds.
All hat and no cattle but telling everyone else how to do it, a true Texan.

So add it to unnecessary drain on the state?

And if it’s sold how would the “locals” own it they are now benefiting from it?

The Feds (whole populous) acquired it, they now keep it or decide together what to do with it.

Nothing would be improved if this sold, would never be measurable unless you want to measure concrete tonnage

It's the locals' property, they should decide. I wouldn't want the feds telling me what to do with my local public areas, the people who potentially use it the most or benefit from keeping/selling it should be the ones to decide.

Do you even know what all hat no cattle means? :ROFLMAO:
My stance is to let the cattle owners in this situation manage their cattle. A guy in Texas should have no say. Property in Vegas suburbs for example should belong to them.

Tell me how it’s only the LOCALS property.

Tell me you don’t recreate out of state without telling me you don’t recreate out of state

Yeah, all that checkerboard across is just a waste of space. That preserved land doesn't house any wildlife or plants that provide a net benefit to the community and environment. Difficult to access land to the general public whether via parcel boundaries, topography, or distance; tend to house relict population of native vegetation as well as refugia for all kinds of wildlife.

Do you not enjoy greenspaces in San Antonio? Is the intrinsic value of the large military bases that hold wildlife and native plants not provide a benefit to your community? Why don't we bulldoze those and provide some housing. Who needs to recharge the Edwards Aquifer, F it.

I don't want the Feds telling me what do do with our lands here in San Antonio. That's the point, let the locals decide. Feds have no place in suburban property.

Fellas we arguing and debating with a guy who comes from the land of fences and box blinds overlooking corn feeders

You're not wrong, but I almost moved to Wyoming to live with my sons. Luckily for me I came to my senses and decided not to leave the gulf coast where I can recreate 24/7/365. "Almost" gives me some credit right? LOL

I sure hope you don’t leave “your” coast and fish them federal waters

Probably was never gonna happen, so yes. If it happened wasn't gonna be anywhere near as bad as people were screaming about. I'm actually annoyed we didn't get rid of all that checkerboard urban chunked area. Maybe they can trade it.
“It won’t happen, but if it does, it’s good.” that doesn’t sound like we’re fear mongering, that sounds like we’re consistently blocking people who actually want to sell it off. There’s land swaps all the time to consolidate public lands. If that’s what they wanted to do they could have proposed that.

Fear mongering would be if there was never actually any plan or intent to sell public lands

The only portions that would be good, IMO, would be the urban dots scattered around. Some of it is less bad though. I'd much rather trade/swap all that checkerboard for large parcels if something like that is doable.
