Does anyone shop at Cabela's anymore? I don't anymore........selection

I live very rurally and the only brick and mortar outdoors/hunting store aside from mom and pop gun shops in my state pretty much is a cabalas thats 1.5 hours away. I have nothing else. No scheels, no academy, etc.

I like cabelas. I would never buy a gun there as the prices are night and day better at the moment and pop shops, but there’s a lot of stuff I will buy there. Mine has a really decent selection of reloading components (projectiles) and I buy a couple of boxes of 100 77 TMK’s that seem to always be in stock every time I go.

If I find something I need that Cabela’s has I find it online and do a price match to lower price. But overall I have lost faith in them for most gear.

I don't really care for Cabelas/Bass Pro - hardly ever go in there and things seem to be overpriced. Scheels is where it's at!

not really. i have a massive scheels, 2 sportsmans closer than my local cabelas and honestly, cabelas sucks now. if i cant find what i need at scheels or sportsmans i will check online to see if cabelas has the item in stock but its my last option always. their inventory has sucked shit ever since bass pro bought them out and even before that my store was on a massive downhill slide.

Scheels also gets all my money. The only time i step foot in Cabelas now is to take the kiddo in for the Santa photo at Christmas

another vote for scheels.

However I like the bass pro card more than scheels. With bass pro they let me accumulate points. Scheels keeps sending gift cards.
I can usually find something at bass pro to spend the free points on.

I had a Cabelas card for a long time before the BASS PRO takeover, always used my points for goodies. After the takeover I couldn't even bring myself to get stuff for free. Finally zeroed my points and threw the card away.
I'm in the same boat right now. Just zeroed my points for a pair of boots and gonna throw away the card. I only used the card lately to get the points but I do way more stuff through scheels like others on here. I grew up reading the Cabelas catalog and it had the go to gear that my family loved. Still have some older gear that is holding up great but BP ruined it

Only for fishing stuff, and even then it seems like half the store is their crap store brands.
Not many options here, other than Wallys, Dicks, etc..
Live in a Touristy area so EVERYTHING is over priced garbage.

there are 3 cabelas within an hour of where I live and I haven’t stepped foot in one for many, many years.

Depending on what I’m looking for, Scheels gets the majority of my business. I’m assuming UM would be next, or maybe my “#1” once the scope and pickle are released.

Cabelas is total crap now. I cancelled my credit card and ended up with a Scheels card. Today they had a bunch of awesome deals in the used handguns; used S&W 22 Mag, CZ Shadow 2, Keltec 22 Mag for really good prices.

Rarely, there is one by my dads house and I occasionally get something there but would generally rather drive an extra hour to scheels.

In general, most useless credit card I own.

However, they are the only store within driving of me that has any reloading stuff so if I’m buying small amounts to test I will get a pound of powder there, since no hazmat for store pickup

I have had a Cabelas cc for at least 20 years. There is a Basspro 15 minutes from my house and I might walk thru couple of times a year. This is the San Antonio store. Last year my truck was broken into there and a pistol stolen out of console. Their management took an attitude like, yeah that happens. SAPD never showed up. Said they would follow up, never did. Turns out this happens a lot in this area. I consider this my disposable credit card. I use it when I feel a little nervous using a card. Traveling at gas pumps, online, etc. If it gets compromised, I will just cancel it.
