Does anyone shop at Cabela's anymore? I don't anymore........selection

I take the Cabelas price and go to the AAFES PX and they honor it, then I don't pay sales tax.

Other than that they suck.

Ours in El Paso didn't even have a good selection of fishing stuff. It was all shit.

Yeah pretty much haven't been to either BPS or Cabela's since the merger. Cabela's used to sell quality stuff, but have since declined and has become an overpriced dollar store

Most gun stores in my area have a very small selection of rifles. They usually order what you are paying for at the time. I have gone to my local Bass Pro and handled rifles and then bought from smaller stores. I have also found a couple deals there I couldn't pass on. Never found anything but rifles on a decent price though. I like the scenery. The Bass Pro in Las Vegas connected to the Silverton is pretty awesome.

They built one 15 minutes away a few years ago. I thought it was gonna be nice to have one close but hardly ever go. I had bought a shotgun that I had shipped there last year to burn some gift cards I had. Otherwise I would have bought it on line from anywhere and shipped to an ffl.

No, only as an absolute last resort. Our closest Cabelas seems like it’s become more of a seasonal tourist destination now. I see the majority of folks that look like they have never stepped off a paved road buying cotton clothing with a big logo.

I've bought a couple Columbia Ascender jackets, pants, Red Head shorts and shirts on sale. I got a Plano Vault there last year. Occasionally, I might buy some game shot in small quantities. Any sort of center-fire ammunition I could probably find a better deal online.

Cabela's is not local so we only stop a few times a year when traveling. My boy loves looking at the catfish and the taxidermied animals.

I do hate the scummy timeshare people that hang out, and try to to catch people by the fish tank and taxidermy gallery. Otherwise, I have no problem shopping at Cabela's. I would rather support Cabela's than buy sporting goods at an anti-gun merchant such as Dicks or Wal-Mart.

Of course, one can find better deals on budget gear through Camofire or sales through GoHunt than making a trip to Cabela's.
“scummy timeshare people“….Ha Ha

There is both a BassPro and a Cabelas in the KC area. When they merged it seemed half of all the products were gone in both stores. Haven’t been in either since that experience. I like Scheels all right.

cabelas not really anymore, bass pro I'll sometimes pickup some saltwater fishing gear mostly cause it is on the way to the beach

Not in a very long time. Sportsman’s Warehouse isn’t far behind. Scheels is pretty good but give them time and they will sell out like Cabela’s.

I still go there when they announce discounts or club member deals. I know some of the gun counter employees and I like to chat with them when they aren't busy, but they often have big lines of people waiting. But frankly, since the gigantic Scheels store came in, I go there lots more often. Sportsman's warehouse, very rarely any more.

They do 10% discount for credit card holders on random Mondays. Active Junky often has 10% to 12% cash back. I just put a new Minn Kota Terrova trolling motor and Humminbird fish finder on my boat and got a total of 21% off, plus the points I earned.

I have also bought some St Croix rods and got the same discount. Christmas before last I got 27% off a Garmin Alpha 300i and 2 collars for my dogs, coming club member discount and Active Junky cash back.

You can get deals if you watch for them.
This is about the only time I buy from there any more.

I’ve had one of their credit cards with a very high limit so I keep it and only use it when there’s 10% off, high active junky rebates and I have a lot of points.

Otherwise it’s pure garbage since the Bass Pro merger.

Driven by the one in Lone Tree, CO probably 15-20 times in the past couple years for medical appointments but never stopped. I like walking through Sheels in Colorado Springs to check out SG and Sitka gear. Cabela's lost my business years ago as their prices skyrocketed and quality fell. I avoid Bass Pro also as their clothing reminds me of Walmart. The mounts in all the stores are really cool though. We have a Sportsman's Warehouse in town that is ok to go to for last minute items and some ammo deals.
