Does anyone else hate mid/low boots and prefer to wear 8-10 inch for everything?

I have the crispi Idaho and I’ve never liked a boot more. Love the ankle support and overall fit. Thinking I might rather have something a little lighter and lower for the summers here in NC I got the Wyoming also. The mid heights just feel weird. Anyone else like this and just wear a taller boot regardless of the season?

I am the opposite, I much prefer a lower boot. Unless I am In snow of course.

Interested to hear more opinions on this. I don’t have a ton of hiking experience but I’ve worn 8” boots everyday for most of my life and love the ankle support. Shopping for some hiking boots as a beginner and am weary of going to a lower height even though it seems popular. I’ve never felt hindered by an 8” boot for general work use or the whitetail hunting I’m used to.

I prefer 7”-8” boots as my feet sweat quite a bit even in cold weather. I can’t wear pacs at all as they make my calves sweat, and the inside of my boots are wet within a few hours.

I’ve pretty much worn tennis shoes, then rubber boots (hunting Florida) my whole life. But they Idaho are just perfect for me. I tried ankle high lowas, hated them, ankle high crispi, hate them. Idk what it is, it just feels weird to me being AT the ankle. I’d rather it either be above or below, and since I don’t want it below for hiking/hunting, I feel like these 8-10 inch are the only way to go. I mean is the only downside sweating?

I like a tall boot for everything. People talk about their feet sweating too much. Mine sweat regardless of what I wear. I like tall boots for support and protection.

If your feet are sweating, as mine do also, why not wear a lower height boot ? It’s the number one reason I prefer the low est boots I can , my feet sweat far less. I don’t normally get any kind of insulated boot either [ unless they are pack boots for snow of course) .

Sweating and a little extra weight. And yes I will wear my tennis shoes every chance I can, even while hunting. Or I have a pair of Russell moccasins I wear if it’s hot, like dove hunting or hunting in Texas.

I’m going to taller boots this year myself. I have mid Hans Wag that I bought last summer. I worn them for four out west hunts and almost daily deer and turkey hunting here in the Midwest. My ankles kinda roll around too much for my liking.
My wife was hunting with me last week and noticed how much my ankles roll. No pain but they roll.
I wore taller Danners for nearly 30 years in LE in all kinds of terrain with no rolling.
I’m going back to tall boots but I want them light in weight but stout.
Any suggestions?

I prefer a low cut boot, I have big calves. I use gaiters all year long.

I like 8-10” boots for all, better ankle support and I can cross most streams/puddles with them and not get wet... until I walk in damp grass

I wear a tall boot almost exclusively these days for the ankle support despite the weight penalty - the rule of thumb is 1 lb. on your foot is worth 5 on your back.

Everybody's different, but nobody likes unhappy feet.

Always wear 9-12" tall boots for hunting, just don't like the shorter stuff much.

Unless it’s extremely rocky terrain I will wear lightweight tennis shoes when backpacking or during archery season. I will go to my Lowa Renagade Mids in October through December. Don’t even own a pair of full height boots.

I love my tall boots I can lace up. Always worn them and just feel like my ankles are better supported with the taller boots.

I bought my first pair of crispis last spring the Idaho’s before my bear hunt in Idaho and I couldn’t be happier I prefer a taller boot but these boots have held up very well and are extremely comfortable. I have nothing but great things to say about crispi and their boots!

I had a pair of Danner mountain lights show up in my life and they changed the way I look at boots. If it's not deep goo....I choose them .

I wear 10” boots all the time. They have great ankle support, and one can cross most creeks without getting wet feet.

I weary 8-10" boots every day either for work or play. I tried the lower hiker boots and didn't like them. I prefer the extra ankle support even if they do weigh more. As far as my feet sweating, ya it sucks but I buy better socks which helps offset it. My daily wear is Darn Tough socks with Lowa Tibet High's
