DO YOU OPENLY TALK ABOUT FIREARMS?

Most my friends own firearms and hunt, so its a given.

I gauge other people and if its brought up, I'll see how it goes.

GF sorta kinda hates guns, so its never brought up.
 
I live behind enemy lines in Boulder, yes I talk about it openly and it's amazing how many people here are on my/our side here despite the local government.
 
yes - all the time. Given my line of work (writing, artsy-fartsy) I just don't give a damn. I am well respected in my work/peer group and they know if they don't like me, I don't care. It works out better than you might think.
 
The topic came up at a company that I used to consult for. I voiced the opinion that it was better to know how to handle firearms safely even if you don't "like" them. I also said (in the context of the conversation) that it was better to be prepared than it was to be a victim. A few weeks later the CEO had a sign put up at the entrance announcing that their building was a gunfree zone.

I agree. Here in liberal coastal CA I usually turn the conversation away from guns and toward punishing criminals. It isn't the inanimate object that is doing the doing, but rather it is our soft on crime DA's who are soft on criminals responsible for the elevated levels of crime.

My go to line is "if only they would re-criminalize being a criminal..."

Aren't you required to tell an officer (during a traffic stop) when there's a firearm in the vehicle? I've had officers tell me that by law I was required to inform them. Maybe on a state by state basis?
 
I don’t mind having civil conversation with people if they actually are interested. I do not however give out any info on what type and how many firearms etc. seems like a bad practice.

Technically speaking you don't have to say a single word to an officer during a stop according to the 4th and 5th amendments
