Do any of you have a Rig just to use in the Mountains

Yep. Old 2012 manual transmission wrangler rubicon. Full suspension replacement, gears, trussed axles, 35s, electronic diff locks and sway bar disconnect.

I looked for 2 years trying to find an Orange Crush, manual transmission, 4 door, rubicon model. Turns out, in this exact configuration they only sold 153 units. This rig will likely go to my oldest boy in 9 years when he turns 16. If the motor and/tranny blows I’ll do an LS swap. Too much fun.

Same I'll be swapping motors and keeping it in the family. I'm the original owner on both my toyotas

I know a lot of guys here are backpackers.
Was wondering if some of you though have a rig that is mainly used for navigating the mountains from a base camp.
Like a old Jeep or ATV etc.
More than likely after this year i will probably do more rifle hunting than Archery with the current proposal coming up in CO about no more Non Resident Archery OTC....Which I think is a good thing by the way.
Made me kind of wonder with 2nd and 3rd rifle still being open but in a harsher time of year weather wise if a dedicated rig might be something I want to add to the list.

I just trailer in my UTV. So much easier using an UTV in most situations I encounter in the mountains.

Depending on how far you have to go to get to the backcountry, SXS are awesome. The utility offerings from John Deere and Kawasaki offer a lot of mobility and lots of bed space for cargo and don’t cost as much as the sporty Can Ams

We moved overseas 5 years ago but I spent most of my life in Alberta. I had a diesel truck for most things and to haul the 5th wheel but to play in the mountains, it was always a Jeep.

21” under the belly, regeared with lockers in both axles, a set of TSL’s and she went wherever I pointed it. If it didn’t, I had a winch on each end.

I tried a quad, rode in buddies side by sides. Give me a Jeep any day. Heater, air con, full cab, lockup storage, street legal, no loading or unloading, storage for all the important stuff. Many elk took a ride home in the back of that thing.
