Looking for some help on finding diaphragm calls for a small/medium size mouth. Seems like every call I buy I have to trim a lot off the sides and back to make it fit. I’ve looked at Phelps and Rocky Mountain websites but don’t know how to tell the sizes. Any help would be great thanks.

The Rockymountain mini master has a smaller frame. I can use there other calls, but the mini fits in my mouth nicer.
Also Primos has some smaller diaphragms, the mini sonic dome calls.

I'm in the same boat as you, I have a very small palate and it is hard to find something that works. I just bought an AMP Grey call from Phelps to try out and it seems to work for me so far. I know Phelps used to carry smaller diaphrams but they areno longer offered on the website so I emailed them to see if they would be coming back into stock. Their response was that they are trying to get the stoke up on the regular ones first since it's a busy time of the season for them. You might want to look into Rocky MOuntian Hunting Calls TST series, I believe they are structured to fit a smaller palate. I'm interested in trying out the TST line as well. I might order a couple more AMP's as well. Best of luck it's a real struggle!

I cut all all my calls. I only cut the sides though and it works great!

Thanks for all the input. I searched through the old posts and found one that had a list of Bugling Bull calls by size from small to large. I ordered a few, so hopefully it’s accurate. I don’t know how to post pictures or I’d post the list. These were the ones on the small list

I just wanted to revive this thread to see if there were any new small frame diaphram calls out there this year?

As a new bow hunter, I have had the pleasure of testing out new equipment. I found that for elk, the Rocky Mountain mouth call line is not only affordable, but comes in many sizes in which to fit various mouth sizes. Primos, though good products, are for the most part, very " one size fits all ". Often times on their videos they even say " trim" it down. However, I just purchased Rocky mountain, its blue with a very small frame. And to be honest, I firmly believe that their products sound better. ( Also check out youtube , search rocky mountain elk calls, look for a video from the owner, Rockie Jacobson )

So what am I missing with Rocky Mountain Calls? They claim they have different sizes but I'll be dammed if I can find anything in the descriptions that state what size frame there calls are?

I trim most of my diaphragm calls even Rocky Mountain, good pair of scissors and a little removed at a time works good. The calls tend to make me gag if I don't take 1/8" or so off the back of the call and I usually have to take a little off the sides. I know its not much removed but most diaphragms hit me just right to cause gagging and by just removing a sliver I'm fine.

If you have Amazon prime...look them up there. I just ordered from there and it says mini.

The tape on all of them are generally the same size. It’s the frames that are different sizes. Mini master and the Kristy Titus Fury are the smallest frames.

I thought they had slightly smaller frame but if the mini is the smaller one then I get it. The mini is way to small for me, my 6 year old grandson can use the mini as it fits him.

Reeds come in two sizes, 1/2" frame & 5/8" frame. The tape can be shortened by the manufacturer to appear the frame is smaller but they're not! Most of the human race would use a 1/2" reed over the 5/8" reed!

So is the mini 1/2"? I assumed it was smaller. Guess thats my confusion, as much as Rocky Mountain talks about there different sizes they would have the size in there description unless the mini is the small size but I can't hardly believe that most men would use the mini.

Keep in mind...you can use diaphragm calls that are turkey calls if you already have some that fit you. They are identical....the more reeds...the raspier and deeper sounding. Elk calls are turkey calls with a "elk" stamped on it.

Ya and you can use elk calls to call turkeys but here again turkey calls have the same frame as elk calls.

I have a smaller palate and emailed the ELK 101 store to ask what they recommend. I have a Black Magic and one of the ELK 101 calls and both seem to fit my mouth fine.
