Can't think of anything I'd need to change on the rifle. Maybe it could come with 1/4",1/2", 3/4" recoil pads and start at 13-13 1/4" without pad to tune to families and scope eye reliefs a little easier, more on that with scope ideas below.
If I could play with scope ideas, take nearly everything about the nx8 1-8 dmx capped but you could add a fixed 6, 7, or 8 as well, also add some objective size 32-40mm (keep exit pupil above 5), 0.1m/click, add a bit of eye relief to be 4" or maybe 1/2" of tube length both sides of turret block for more room to move in rings for more rifle mounting flexibility to meet longer lop rifles or get over long action rifles..it's a short scope with a short eye box, add some illumination references to the tree likely on each whole mil (a dot perhaps) to make tree somewhat usable past most legal light scenarios but not light the whole tree as usually pretty calm for wind at those times lol, prolly won't need the donut on fixed power and reticle visibility is good through low light but I do kinda like the donut anyway even at higher mag on my 1-8 so? Love the reticle, love the illumination range and application, love the capped and basically how everything adjusts or moves. Don't let it break 20 oz. Top up the image quality/ability a touch as clarity makes more of any magnification. Why not an odd number to stand apart from everything we've seen so far? How bout a fixed 7x, maybe stay odd on objective with say 37mm, really mess with the ocd's and be polarizing love/hate develops before hitting shelves and raise hell on forums? Seems like guys like the 6x but 10x goes too far on fixed do all hunting, so the call for middle at 8x seems reasonable, but maybe just 1 more x on the 6 is the way?
Cartridge, would mirror everything I like about the 308w and 168gr eldm but just reduce recoil a bit. Can envision its potential equal in all areas but reducing recoil just the right amount in 6.5 GT with 123-130gr eldm and be just the right bowl of porridge to 0-600 no practice gun/cartridge required, want same barrel life of 308 or better, already know the game we chase does not like 6.5 123gr eldm even from slow ass grendels which is basically identical bc/sd of a 168gr eldm and we've downed a bunch with low pressure slow short barrel grendels and now getting decent sample size on the 308 168gr it's doing as expected also. So essentially a grendel 'long' to feed from any standard short action and pick up the speed being at standard pressures with touch more capacity to equal the 308 168 combo. Unlimited supply of white box match off the shelf by hornady be great.
