What boolits does yours like?Just got a Sako 90 Adventure in 308w. And my Tikka T3x is for sale. Tikkas are great rifles, with slick action and good precision. But I don’t like to turn off safety in order to empty chamber. I hunt in woods, often carrying the rifle in one hand. And I love Sakos five round magasine flush with the stock, making it possible to carry with one hand. Tikkas 3 rund mag is flush though.
Sako 90 has no plastic parts. That is a plus for me. The adjustable trigger pull weight is nice. I use the lightest setting at the range. But when it comes to hunting in late season with gloves, I might set the weight a tad heavier.
My 90 Adventure has the integrated pic rail in the action. No base needed. The action is slick, trigger is great. The metal is coated stainless.
I just can’t figure out whats not to like about the Sako 90, other than price. And I’m not a hard core Sako fanboy. This is my first Sako. My other rifles are Tikka, Kimber Montana and Mauser.
I got the 90 peak and was almost impulse buy as I was after a stainless 20” 308 and almost pulled trigger on ruger hawkeye hunter then saw the peak, quickly learned about it and finally looked like they could remove the ‘demand’ portion of their ‘demand perfection’ slogan as it looked as though they finally achieved their goal lol. I learned about the adventure afterwards and could have easily gone that way to satisfy my feature set desires as the weight isn’t an issue for me with either, you just add shoot ability with weight and the all black less flashy would have been the toss up plus less cost to offset the weight difference. Mine came at 5 lb 10oz so a bit lighter than website weight.
My second Sako, I had an a7 stainless 270 wissum that was excellent also but the 75/85’s weren’t perfect yet so couldn’t go to that price point until they were and the 90 did it and then some with the integral picatinny and trigger adjustability ease and wr lock time and opened up receiver etc. Super happy with it, now moose, whitetail, antelope and 2 bears deep and it’s been a great tool that appreciates more as the hunts and range days pile on.
Nice choice. Agree with your assessments. Had I not been so horned up for a 20” 308 with specific features and materials and took a bit more time to learn the adventure I may have gone that route instead. Got hyper focused on the peak and moved fast. Probably got and killed with one of the first ones that landed in the 51st state.
