I’ll be buying a Finnlight in 6.5creed and a hunter in 223 when they are available. Probably put a 22creed barrel on the Finnlight. Ready to sell off a bunch of rifles to accommodate the new sakos

I found the SAKO 90’s on sale at EO for an unbelievable price and asked my dealer about ordering one.
Note had to do this via text because he was actually closed this weekend, but his reply was you can get a better gun for less money, I know his opinion, but what say you Rocksliders?
Except for the many 75’s and 85’s that won’t eject properly. Dumbest ejector placement ever.I’ve had Remington, Ruger, Winchester, CZ, Tikka, Mauser, Sako and several custom actions. Nothing compares in a factory rifle to Sako. When I say this, I’m looking at fit, finish, feeding, extraction, accuracy and trigger.
Buy your Sako with confidence. You won’t be disappointed. It’s my favorite factory rifle. I have the Sako 75 stainless in .260.
Show me a 75 that had ejection issues. 85 long actions had some ejection issues.Except for the many 75’s and 85’s that won’t eject properly. Dumbest ejector placement ever.
I mean most non sporting good store gun counters seem to know the most about AR's and conceal carry guns. I think that's what most of them get in business to sell, and it's what the majority of their customers come in to shoot the sh!t about. I've found if I want to ask about hunting guns, shotguns or rifles, mainly they're just looking up a price for me and there's no real conversation. It’s a big assumption that an FFL or a person behind the counter at gun shop knows what they are talking about, particularly with uncommon or European brands. It is a fair assumption that they will have an opinion, but it may not be based on anything real.
Same with Benelli. I went to a dealer and asked and he said the same about them. You can buy and get one sent but they can't order one.One other thing on Beretta, Back in the day, I tried to order a Sako from my local dealer. He couldn't order one due to the requirement that Beretta/distributor stated he had to carry $10k in Beretta/Sako inventory. This was probably 20 years ago. He tried to sway me another way but I eventually found a Sako. Buy what you want and don't settle for someone else's recommendations.
Agreed. And remembering any tone that's assumed to be implied from a text message is probably wrong. If he didn't try to push for another brand he's probably just making a comment.Thats just his opinion. I wouldnt look to far into it unless he's getting pushy about it.
Oh, I may have been misunderstood. I was merely pointing out there are some American brands out there. I certainly was not putting them in the same vein as the Sako. I'm sorry if I misrepresented that in any way. These brands you quoted are more general purpose inexpensive, except for Kimber, guns that one could get by with hunting. Can confirm from experience. Springfield, Smith & Wesson, Sig Sauer, Vortex, and Leupold are big ones for that.
I think the Ruger American Gen 2's are a great value for $600 but they're not in the same league as Tikka for me.
Hit and miss for a lot of people with regards to accuracy.
I guess it depends what you mean by decent. Savage themselves know their extractors and ejectors aren't great so they're having someone help them re-design them. Bolt feel is atrocious too. They tend to shoot decent for the money but aren't known for stellar reliability or feeling like a quality firearm.
Agreed, we hunters are a small portion of the firearms economy. Just look at SHOT show.I mean most non sporting good store gun counters seem to know the most about AR's and conceal carry guns. They both do it. The ejector blade is in the same position on both.Show me a 75 that had ejection issues. 85 long actions had some ejection issues.
Hmmm. You got me curious. I’m hot to buy a Bavarian or a Hunter. For the money ($2250 range- with opti lock)they are a good value. But not if you’re unlucky to get a poor run of rifles. Then you may be buying a headache. However, Sako had a good reputation with the previous 85s for a factory heirloom type rifle. The Quest should all be tack drivers for $4000 or I ain’t interested ! The integrated Picattiny mount , trigger adjust, double plunger, and GRS stock don’t warrant the price unless they have an impeccable guarantee of being sub MOA. After all, how many truly do that make that claim?I found the SAKO 90’s on sale at EO for an unbelievable price and asked my dealer about ordering one.

That is an awesome rifle with good features and would be very interested to know what is out there better for cheaper, because cheap ain’t always better. Also, I am not into any custom stuff and prefer just good solid factory setups, minor mods okay but nothing major.

I started off with my grandfather’s 30-06 Mannlicher Schoenauer. It’s given me an appreciation for some foreign made factory deluxe rifles. Don’t get me wrong, they have been afflicted by bean counters too ; but seem to have an edge on American made quality. Although until I eventually add a Weatherby to my “Classic American “ brand portion of my collection, I figure they will rateWhere are you finding good American made rifles? Don't tell me about any with Mauser style wing ding safeties or rifles without bolt locks. They aren't "good" hunting rifles imo.
We’re gun enthusiasts.I don’t’ have a ton of knowledge or background as many that are here on RS. Shot the SAKO in Africa and I just couldn’t shake not having one.
Ordered one this past weekend and it will be delivered by this weekend.
Got the 30.06 Hunter.
Not sure there would be any interest in pics after I get it, but I can’t wait to get it.

Certainly post a picture. I’m considering the Hunter if they don’t get out the Bavarian in smaller calibers yet. Good luck - hope all is well with your new purchase. 30-06 is perfect for that rifle.I don’t’ have a ton of knowledge or background as many that are here on RS. There are good American made rifles and it pains me to not always buy American. But I’ve had much better luck with foreign firearms than American. I’ve often had issues with American made. Same with my trucks. Would always buy Ford. Always in the dealer with issues. So now now I buy Japanese pickup trucks and have had no issues. It hurts to have to buy foreign for products with less headaches, but I’ve had much better luck with their products. With so many good American made rifles, sending money overseas to help foreign economies doesn’t appeal to everyone.
