Dead Air Nomad Ti XC

KGM is the issue with Dead Air’s welded cans and since they aren’t involved it should be fine.

For the record I had three sequential Nomad Ti’s sent back, one exploded, a second was cracked and the third didn’t have any issues but had been shot less and was the middle serial number meaning that it most likely had the same issue. KGM took 5 months to fix it and after they shipped it back I found out all of them were full of sand blast media when it completely coated the inside of my barrel and action after the first range trip.

I had to completely tear my rifle apart including removing the barrel, the action from the chassis and disassembling the bolt completely to get all of it out then spent several hours cleaning the suppressors multiple times only to continually find media occasionally in my action for months afterwards. I am thankful that I didn’t put it on my AR or M1A as that would have been a total nightmare to remove.
That's infuriating. So is KGM still fixing the welded cans or has DA worked something out with someone else?

Shot at the range with a guy that had the Nomad TI XC on a 26” barrel 300 win mag.

I was amazed how quiet it was at the shot. A big part of that is the 26” barrel, but it’s a sweet can.

Been interested in one of these and waiting on funding to become available to pull the trigger. Am I understanding the mounting options right? It's HUB compatible...so it looks like you can change the adapters in the back of the can from direct thread, Xeno or other HUB system?

The reason I ask is I've seen some direct threads in stock at various times, but not Xeno's. I think I want to go the Xeno route. If the adapter thing is true, I can but an available direct thread and just get the adapter to use Xeno?

If you bought the DT version you would just have to get the Xeno stuff and switch them out. Not really a big deal. Just extra money. But any hub system will work.

Filed my form 4 on mine today. While I was at my lgs I tried to remove the Xeno adapter from the can to take home with me but couldn’t get it to budge! Anyone else have this problem and what’s the trick to get it off?

I took mine off today to swap to a DT and mine was also super tight! Got the wrenches in position and set everything on the table and a couple taps with a small hammer on the wrench broke it loose. Was trying to be really careful and not scratch the FDE finish! This was after 30 rounds of use and not new, so it had some heat cycles. I thought that maybe made it worse, but it sounds like they are all pretty tight from the factory.

The easy meathod… impact gun with 1 1/8” deep socket to take off xeno, to put on dt mount its a 13/16 socket for the 5/8x 24, its a 3/4 for the 1/2 x 28…Those wrenches that come are sketchy imop. The impac made it a breeze, zero marring on mount etc.. i hold can in hand and bump trigger of impact gun.

Thats probably the better method but I didn't feel like going to the shop for the impact! Thats definitely all it needs though to break it loose - a little shock/impact. Kind of like breaking a factory Tikka barrel loose. That hit with a hammer is key on most of them. I've only had one that didn't need it.

Lay a Kleenex or two over the hex. Wiggle and push the supplied wrench over the hex. It’ll take all the slop out of it and give you a much better chance of getting it off without marring it. Kimtech Kimwipes work better than Kleenex if you know what they are and have them around. Paper towel might work too.
