OCL had a .9oz 1/2-28 DT hub adapter for sale last night for $30….maybe a “better” (lesser) use of money.Maybe not a great use of money, but I saved 0.7 oz by switching the steel direct thread to the Ti adapter from DD ($55). Also then it's Ti on Ti, less chance of galling.
Yep, but I need a 5/8-24 for my uses for this can, and it looks like those are $85 everywhere.OCL had a .9oz 1/2-28 DT hub adapter for sale last night for $30….maybe a “better” (lesser) use of money.
Except the barrel is steel so the constant on off is ti vs steel... That's what's kept me from doing it.Maybe not a great use of money, but I saved 0.7 oz by switching the steel direct thread to the Ti adapter from DD ($55). Also then it's Ti on Ti, less chance of galling.
That's fair, galling might be worse then. I'll put a bit of copper anti-sieze on the barrel threads.Except the barrel is steel so the constant on off is ti vs steel... That's what's kept me from doing it.
That said, I did mess the threads up on a rifle once from a steel adapter so in that case, maybe a ti adapter would have saved me a cut and re thread fee.

Copper antisieze does not play well with stainless. That's fair, galling might be worse then. I'll put a bit of copper anti-sieze on the barrel threads.
Iosso triple action oil or boretech friction gaurd is all ya need a little of on threads. I take my cans off every time after i shoot, clean barrel/action spin it back on.Copper antisieze does not play well with stainless.
Did not know that, thanks.Copper antisieze does not play well with stainless.
Mine sounds great but blew up the groups on 2 rifles:
- 16” tikka T3x 8 twist: I’ve tried 69 and 77 TMKs and SMKs with 8208 XBR, IMR4895, TAC, and CFE223, and factory Black Hills 75 HP Match. Best was 1.3” 10-round groups with an anemic 24 grain load of IMR4895 and 69TMK. 8208XBR and 77TMKs were over 2” with 23.0-23.5 gr 8208XBR. Everything else was 1.5” or worse. Rifle shoots inch or better with multiple loads unsuppressed.
- 20” AR (Faxon fluted hbar) in 6 ARC with factory Hornady 108s were 2.5” suppressed, 1.2ish unsuppressed
- 20” AR 5.56 with Luth-AR 9 twist HBAR shot 69 SMKs with CFE223 in under an inch with the nomad ti xc
- 18” AR in 6 Creedmoor with 8 twist Rainier barrel shot right under an inch with factory hornady 108 ELDM with the nomad ti xc.
I burned a boatload of powder trying to get that tikka to shoot well suppressed. I thought for sure the 77TMK 8208 XBR combo would be the answer. I guess I’ll have to either buy it a different suppressor or different barrel.
Update on these rifles:
I free-floated the tikka barrel by removing the plastic bumps in the stock and reduced 77TMK loads to 22.8 gr XBR and it shoots around 1.3”for 10. The black hills 75 match hp are now 1.1” for 10 shots with the suppressor.
I removed and reinstalled to 70ftlbs the 6 ARC barrel and it’s now shooting 1.6” for 10 shots suppressed which might be as good as an 8lb AR gets with my shooting abilities. I also lapped the receiver face on that during the reinstall.
So I’m concluding that none of the previous ills were the Nomad Ti XC’s fault.
