They’re not too far off price wise. I don’t do much muzzleloader hunting so just need one for the occasional hunt that comes up.

Anyone tried the new optima V3 yet?

I have the wolf. I’m surprised at the accuracy I get out of it. I’m pleased with it. I can only use it 1 week a year, so I went with the less $$.

Same here except it not even every year lol

I have a lot of money into my tikka/maven rifles but not looking to spend that on a muzzy

I’d buy a Wolf if I were going to spend any money on a CVA.

Thanks for the feed back. I’ve read many of your posts about other manufactures. I’m probably the minority but I had issues with an omega I bought about 10 years ago. Would shoot good some times but not great other times, so I’m kind of gun shy of buying another one. I ended up selling it. Please keep in mind I’m meticulous with my scope mounting, the problem was the muzzy (or at least the barrel)

What sort of problems? Wouldn’t shoot full-bores well?

Strange. Never heard of an Omega that wouldn’t shoot sabots.

Yeah I know I’m in the minority… just sharing my experience. I don’t believe it is a shooter issue either because I can typically shoot around 1”-1.25” 10 shot groups out of my tikkas

I had a wolf, not so good.

Have optima V2 and it shot cloverleafs first year and fist-size groups the next. Gotta figure out what i did diff. Shot a buck year two.

Got me some white hots hornady bore drivers and fed bor locks to see about 200 yds this year.

The optima has a longer barrel and weighs more than the wolf. I have a wolf V2 and an optima V2, and shoot both a lot. Both are accurate and will kill deer up to 200 yards easy. If I had to pick one I think I’d go with the wolf just because it’s a little lighter and little easier to use in a tree stand.

I have a CVA Optima V2 (the wolf is a little smaller and lighter but I love the feel of my optima) and I really like it. I’ve only ever shot it out to 200 but it’s very accurate all the way out to 200 and you can’t ask much more out of production muzzleloader. I primarily chase whitetails with mine and the occasional Muley tag when I draw but the whitetail I’ve shot with it have been devastating (in a good way). I’m running BH209 I messed with a lot of charges and weights but landed on BH209 make sure you go by weight not volume and I was running Harvesters sabots out of mine but ended up doing some testing with the Fury’s and they shot so accurately after I used their sizing kit and got a nice bullet to bore fit I’m gonna end up running them this year I really like the stuff they’re putting out. Best of luck this season, I know there’s some people who don’t like CVA but for the price they’re hard to beat and mine shoots great with no issues.
