I am getting my Gredos Ibex and Fallow deer shipped back from Spain. The cost of this was a huge surprise for me. The exporter in Spain is doing all of the paperwork on that side and shipping it air freight. I am going to drive to Dallas (about 8 hours) to pick it up in customs when it gets here to avoid any more costs. Can anyone tell me what paperwork I am going to need once I get there? I would really like to have everything in line to make it go smoothly. Thanks!

I believe you will need to notify the US fish and wildlife agency about the incoming shipment. Some states will need to inspect and release the shipment. In addition you will probably need to get the local airport customs team to release the shipment. I’d suggest calling your local US fish and wildlife agency and they should be able to walk you thru the process. It’s not easy I’ll tell you that and if you don’t have the released in place ahead of time you won’t get your shipment until they are all in place.

My Gredos is coming from Madrid next month. Probably the same shipper as yours. I hired a local freight broker who is experienced. Just to figure out the process is a nightmare, and not worth my time. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but sometimes... you just have to write the check.

I would just contact an import specialist like Coppersmith, I have used them multiple times and have had 0 issues. Great communication as well. Ive always used the Chicago Ohare poet of entry but I know they have others across the US as well.
