Has anybody else had problems dealing with Curtis customs. I placed an order with with Chase Curtis over the phone for x lite rifle paid in full was told it was a 6 week lead time and that’s also what his website claims it’s now going on 18 weeks and now he won’t respond to my phone call or emails anymore. He’s done nothing but lie to me saying it’s shipping for the last few weeks. I drew an Idaho sheep tag this year that starts Aug. 30 and I sold my other custom hunting setup after I placed my order with him on feb. 21 thinking I’d have it in a reasonable time. Kinda screwing me over for getting the shooting in I wanted to and at this point I don’t know if I’ll even get it before the season starts. From what I’m reading more online this is kinda typical practice for him.

Well I don’t have any dealings with him building a rifle but they never could seem to keep up or provide actions, bottom metal, magazines, etc… in a timely manner so I quit buying them from him. Others started supplying equivalent stuff so I moved on. He had a good thing going in the beginning but couldn’t seem to follow through.

Sorry to hear that man. Sounds like status quo.

Yea that sucks guess he got me too. It’s bummer looks like he could have a good thing and probably putting out good stuff if he had better customer service. Kinda ruins the experience and excitement of having a rifle built, I’m not a guy that gets to build a rifle every year like some people just a working man scraping by that wants a good hunting stick.

There's so many of these type of threads that I honestly don't understand the attraction of "custom" guns. There is a plethora of quality guns that you can just go buy.

I had never heard of Curtis customs, but a quick Google search doesn't make them seem like a wise choice.

Way to kick a guy when he is down.

Just under two and a half months until your sheep hunt.

Go buy a COTS rifle, put a reliable scope on it, get ammo and start getting ready for your hunt.

Sucks about you getting stiffed but it was potentially avoidable; learn your lesson to perform due diligence before dropping custom coin. Get a lawyer and see if you can get some of your money back.

Chase Curtis is a POS. They have always been terrible at meeting quoted delivery dates and zero customer support. Terminus is a spin off divorced sister company ran by Joel Russo, who was an original co-founder at Curtis. I think Terminus is a bit better, but I have had many missed delivery dates and some action problems without a lot of help from Terminus as well.

Coming to find that. My brother actually has an early Curtis action on a build I think when the two of them were still together seems like a great action and super smooth. I didn’t know of the down for fall until now looking into it.
