Custom mini Canadian belt knife

Does anyone make an exact copy of the Grohman #2 Bird and Trout in modern steel like S30v.
I don't know of anyone who makes an exact replica, but I know a bunch of guys here(myself included) would be happy to work on something for you. Including using many modern steel options.

So do we have like a final design nailed down that guys are routinely buying? Are we just PMing makers on this thread for options/prices/lead times? @Dixie

LS Wild has their mass produced unit finalized and up for sale other than that peruse the forum and contact the maker you like. I didn't want exactly what LS Wild was doing so I had Dixie do one for me with the blade dimensions I wanted.

@BBob covered the standard (Dixie Zipper) purchase.
I primarily work through PM's and like the other builders on here are happy to do customs.
Im not taking orders unless I have one heat treated as I will be gone fishing/hunting next week.
I am working on two like the dark handled one out of Magnacut. More like a standard CBK 4" around .110 thick1000001106.jpg

Just got this custom CBK from @Dixie
It feels great in the hand and should be my next go to game knife. It has all the tweaks to what I wanted improved from the Jackstone. The MKC is being promptly sold View attachment 837362
Put the new CBK from @Dixie to work the other week on a whitetail doe. Gutted and caped with it. It was super easy with a small
Knife and I made far less hide cuts and got the deer processed in record time. You guys are right these things are slick. I am a huge believer.

Had no idea CBKs were so popular here, but I fully understand why.

A few I've made, along with a few I've bought.

A couple more I made along with a CS for scale

As much as I thought I wanted something a little different than the commercial versions, I keep returning to the CS version. It's kind of the Mora of CBKs and does everything pretty well.

I bought a CS after reading this thread. Since I've never seen a CBK in person, wasn't sure of the size or how they would feel in the hand. It is a little smaller than I thought which is perfect since I like a small knife. Excited for deer season to try this sucker out. If it works well an original or custom one with a flat grind will be in the works.

@SDHNTR sent me over these grohmann knives to get a little custom going. Although I appreciate the classic/nostalgic CBK shape I have always found the handle design inferior to mine. Of course I am biased. I don’t find it uncomfortable necessarily, just sort of awkward. Love the handle/blade relationship though. Here it is next to mine.

Agreed. I've come to think that the Grohmann blade shape is pretty close to ideal, but the handles are too small, for my hands anyway, and my hands aren't particularly giant or anything.

I thought an overall larger knife was the answer, but now think a Grohmann blade with larger handles like my last two would be about ideal for me.
