Custom mini Canadian belt knife

Speaking of belt knives checkout these 3 5” ones I finished for a guy in Australia

Well done. So far I cant sell a Canadian belt knife in Australia. I think most people aren't familiar with the style, so just stick to what looks "normal" to them.

I had some on my table at the Melbourne knife show last year and was explaining the advantages to a guy. He just said they looked "fugly" and kept on going.

I have made a few, and have good reports from testing them here on sambar deer. But thats as far as its gone. I am taking some to a stand I have at an outdoor show in a couple of weeks, so will see if I have any better luck with Aussie hunters.

I know the feeling! It’s hard to explain why it’s unique. More knives are sold on looks than utility.

I am working through ideas to put together something to explain it when I release our knife.

Yeah, I have been trying to educate people, but its been an uphill battel. I am hoping to put out a video or two showing it in use. Im not sure how else to get people across it.

I have been thinking of a way to let people “try” it. At least have them put it in their hand and go through then motions.

Here’s another sample of the work Dixie does. Received it today.
MagnaCut blade, arrived sharp. Micarta handle.
Nice experience for my first venture into the custom, hand made knife world. Good to deal with.
Just what I asked for, just what I received.
I like how Dixie left the raw steel surface near the top of the blade, and in front of the handle. Uncommon design detail that I find appealing.
Kydex sheath fit perfect.
Looking forward to putting it into action.
Thanks Doug!

I have the same issue. Most won’t buy a Canadian belt style knife on looks alone when they are use to traditional drop points but once they handle it, it’s a different story. Typically I sell one and then hunting partners are ordering one. Here is a little one at 7.5 inches I’ve been making for many years. Black Ash handle on acid etched M4.
