Yea me too …nice to have someone to bounce ideas off. I don’t live at the end of the road by I can see it from here and right between two Wilderness areas, if I’m not outside shooting,hiking or skiing I’m in my shop building something.

Aebl is a great stainless and 61 is about ideal for it in my use experience. Carbon-like on stones, not gummy or difficult to deburr. Nice work. Magnacut would be cool but I love the ease of sharpening/ touch-ups inherent to well heat treated 52100 or AEBL. I don’t bring my diamond stones to camp but I will bring a small Belgian coticule or translucent Arkansas.

Yes 52100 , ABE-L are great to put an edge on…love it when you get the hair burr when you finish it on the strop. Those two and Magnacut are my go to steels.
I follow the heat treatment from Larrin T (knifesteelnerd) and have been pleased with the results.
