Thanks Bugln in pa. On our summer trip out west a few years ago I thought we'd never get through Kansas...and the wind was horrible. We went out I-70 and came back I-40 so we missed Kansas on the way back. This time for times sake it will probably be I-70 both ways. In my opinion the drive through Kansas will be the worst part of the trip.

God Bless.

Before I moved to Montana I made the Michigan to Montana 25hr trek many times. If you have a buddy it is definitely worth driving straight through. Make room to sleep in the back, and take turns driving. Driving gives you much more flexibility with your trip. If you tag out early you can leave early, or trek to the nearest trout stream and do some fishing. Bring a couple large coolers. In a pinch you can make a cooler out of a cheap storage container, hard foam insulation, and some dry ice. Minivans are a great way to go. Best gas mileage for the most storage space. I agree that if you get off road with it you will definitely want some thicker tires, and maybe a lift.
