Closing out this thread as well. I sent the boots back to Crispi and they ended up replacing them within two days of receiving the boots. I talked to Justin, who evaluated the boots, and he said that in his opinion, it was most likely a cut that probably expanded and the leather hadn’t cracked. However, he said he wasn’t able to say definitively and they give the customer the benefit of the doubt when it is in question. I really appreciated that and I agree with his assessment - I couldn’t tell if it was a crack or cut that had expanded. The fact that they replaced them after a fair evaluation that give the “tie” to the customer, is great CS. It was a positive experience with their CS and I am satisfied.
