Approach to boots and socks

Hey guys Im looking for some help with my approach to boots and socks as I’m in the market for new boots. Previously I had two pairs of danners, lighter non insulated for archery season and scouting and a little heavier insulated ones for later season. But it seems neither were ever very waterproof.

So I want to go to full leather to make sure I’m actually getting water proof boots. I tried on the crispi nevadas and they felt great so I’m leaning towards that right now.

However I don't want them to be super hot in the early season then have cold feet while glassing later on. I know most guys just do non insulated for everything and kinda adapt to seasons through socks but I’ve never seen much success with that. Is it realistic to do all seasons with something like the Nevada?

I have the Schnee beartooth in 200g insulation. I find them not too hot in the summer (just used them this week in the Adirondacks) and they serve me well in the winter coupled with warm socks.

Personally I haven't found much difference in regards to waterproofing between full leather and a hybrid boot. If the waterproof membrane fails, you are getting wet feet. Full leather may resists wetting through a bit longer unless you are waxing every few weeks.

My feet sweat with any walking in insulated boots. I will wear non insulated then use the down booties over them while sitting

Goretex socks over normal socks have solved all my wet feet issues.

I bought a pair of these for stalking. Much better than a sock or stalkasin. Been wearing the around these house. Pretty cool, cactus proof. Hope to put them to good use on my mule deer hunt.
