I’m a little bit worried... I’ve got Crispi Nevada’s that are new for this season and the left boot has the leather cracking right at the rand. Has anyone ever seen this before?

Maybe poor resolution on my end, but that looks like a cut following the rand. Do you suppose they were like that from the get go?

I don’t believe it is a cut. The ends are a bit jagged, like you would expect from cracking. It doesn’t look like I would expect from a slice or cut.

I looked at it a little more closely and I still think it is a crack. I’m not sure what would make a cut like that in the leather. The leather is pretty stiff and durable and it would have to be significant to make a cut like that. Plus the location is suspect- the junction of the rand and the leather. Here is a better picture. I emailed Crispi to ask them about it.

I would contact Crispi to get them replaced. Reach out to them now and don't wait for the end of the season. No reason to have expensive boots that are less than a season old and deal with sealing it or the condition getting worse. Pretty soon your warranty is up, it gets worse, leak and then Crispi says your shit out of luck.

Closing out this thread as well. I sent the boots back to Crispi and they ended up replacing them within two days of receiving the boots. I talked to Justin, who evaluated the boots, and he said that in his opinion, it was most likely a cut that probably expanded and the leather hadn’t cracked. However, he said he wasn’t able to say definitively and they give the customer the benefit of the doubt when it is in question. I really appreciated that and I agree with his assessment - I couldn’t tell if it was a crack or cut that had expanded. The fact that they replaced them after a fair evaluation that give the “tie” to the customer, is great CS. It was a positive experience with their CS and I am satisfied.
