Not much reason too where I'm archery hunting, but during rifle season there's some spots it might make sense.

So, possibly?

I think it's perfectly ethical/moral, which is what's important to me.

Which is more important to you?
1. Ethical/moral
2. Legal

Moral, followed by ethical, followed by legal.

Unfortunately, breaking laws that are not themselves immoral constitutes an immoral action. Kind of peculiar circumstance therefore.

So, I guess it comes down to how important it is to hunt that land locked piece...and how likely it is someone will be watching.

And, unless I am mistaken, corner crossing has currently only been debated within the judicial system. Anyone know if there are actual laws governing the act of corner crossing, or is it based on court cases?

Just did a little digging, to refresh/update my data.

I still stand by my original statement. I would at this point be willing to try my luck, and if legal processes were taken by the state or private individuals, I would fight them.

That is my position. I own no land, so maybe I am biased and or out of touch, but I don't see how any federal judge could determine that accesing public land via corner crossing constitutes trespassing in any way.

I'm not going to try it. I had one spot that looked great for it...walked up to the spot and my On x was off by 5 feet according to the monument location. I don't need a tresspass ticket when there is other public land to hunt. Just my opinion.

C'mon...they were just looking for their dog.
Never had that excuse, did have I was looking for my horse one time.

With out fail the excuse is " I thought this was public land" and they would pull out their Gazetteer and point to the public land. Kind of hard to do that with mapping apps like OnX on everyone's phone today.

@AME and everyone else-

Having spent serious money in a trial where I was owed a ton of money, I wonder how many folks would make the same proud proclamation when they realize that "I would fight them in court" will cost at least $100k out of pocket just to get started and can easily/quickly run 2x-3x or more.

And once litigation and billing starts, it does not stop. You're either in or you're out.

Receiving a summons or a fat, registered mail envelope from opposing counsel quickly calls Bull Shi*t on chest-thumping and posturing that is otherwise ALL Hat, NO ranch. Especially once you start writing $10k-$30k checks each and every month to your attorney.

I have and will continue to corner cross. But I make damn sure I'm doing it correctly. Not many CAs out there with the stomach to pursue the issue right now and WG&F won't touch it.

I don’t think twice about corner crossing over a staked corner. Those are rare though. OnX is not even remotely accurate enough to hop from corner to corner without trespassing.

I know I'd put up a few hundred bucks to support anyone fighting that battle. I bet a good GoFundMe would raise quite a bit nationwide. There's a lot of people annoyed with our public property being used as private playgrounds.

I see you bumped an old thread to post that. Are you by chance a landowner concerned about people corner crossing near you? Your post does sound a bit threatening.

Sure it is. It is the number 1 tool used by WG&F and Sheriff's to determine private land boundaries. If there isn't a survey stake, and you can show your path stayed on public according to the app, you are good. Again, you are innocent until proven guilty. How would anyone prove you crossed at the wrong place,

I get most guys are too nervous to do it. That's why those properties are still good.
