For a mug full (12-16 oz) i use about 2 tablespoons of fine ground french roast and it comes out dark and strong which is how I like it (insert pun here)..... Put in grounds, place over mug, pour in boiling water, give it a quick stir, then press it...

I may have to try the starbucks VIAs. I used the military MRE instant coffee packs last year, and boy now I know what the crappiest watered down coffee taste like.:p

Saw this at trader joes the other day and going to give it a shot. I have always just taken starbucks via's but thought this was worth a try for 3.99. I will just repackage a few serving sizes into a snack size zip lock and toss it in my food bag.

Having long considered coffee the most important meal of the day, and being on the lookout for something light, portable, and that actually makes good coffee, the aero press referenced earlier got my attention. Ordered one up, figured more toys are better( and we are prone to storms knocking out the power around here, as a fine excuse to get one..) got a little hand powered grinder to go with it.
Don't know how it,s gonna fair in the great outdoors yet, but so far, it makes a mighty fine brew! AND, provided a little amusement for the Missus, I,m like a caffeine crackhead with that damn miniature grinder, figuring out how to get the coffee JUST RIGHT early in the A.M..

Could have written this. Been playing with the same combo since this thread started. Great coffee. Been brewing a cup of espresso every night after dinner. Use the inverted method shown on youtube.

I have been disappointed with instant coffee in the past but I am going to try the Via.

I often like to add in Carnation Instant Breakfast for an additional boost.

Via for me. I tried a lot of the instant stuff and like via the best. Next best tasting thing in my opinion is the folgers coffee that come in the tea bags.
