Climbing sticks

I use a two step aider that I move up the tree with me as I climb, also. I can get 7 feet per stick pretty comfortably with the aider. Usually three sticks is enough, sometimes I carry four.

You're reading my mind. I just got some climbing webbing to make an aider.
I also swapped out the straps and buckle for rope mods on the sticks.

My plan was to attach a lower stick, go up and attach second stick with aider. Then remove bottom stick and continue upward. I don't need to get real high where I'm planning on this set.

Hawk Heliums, modified to two 19.5 inch steps and with ropes instead of cambuckles. 9.5 pounds for 4 sticks. They stack better than anything else out there.

Consider a saddle setup too.

This is my setup with 4 sticks and a mini-treestand platform, pretty damn compact.

How did you modify the steps? I have same ones and am looking for a better system than the cambuckles.
