Hey guys just thought id share a project i knocked out over the past few modifying a timber tikka stock into something more similar to a rokstok that was alot easier than doing a full timber stock from scratch. Iv done this once before on another stock that i had but that one i epoxied over this time i wanted to keep the timber look.
Ill not i decided for the sake of looks on this one i wouldn't modify the forend i can always do it later and re finish if i want too.

first step is level the stock and mount it solid to a benchIMG_6746.jpeg

Second step was to use a simple router sled to skim the butt down to a fin IMG_6749.jpegIMG_6750.jpegIMG_6751.jpeg
I then trimmed down the edges of the fin abit to make it easier to then rebate i to 2 other boards that will sandwhich around the centre finIMG_6758.jpegIMG_6757.jpegIMG_6759.jpeg
next step was to just glue and clamp the boards together around the rebated fin.

Im not much of a poster on here so i didnt realise there is a 10 image limit so ill have to continue in the next post

Following on from above

I then marked out the new shape and did a rough cutIMG_6765.jpeg
And then routered the shape of the recoil pad as a guide and began shaping. I decide i didnt really need to make the grip ambidextrous and thought it would be stronger to do a palm swell into one side only.

After then sanding back the rest of the stock i was abit concerned that i should have gone and tried to source some walnut for it to match colour better but i also really concidered that it might look pretty cool as 2 tone timber aswell haha

That wasnt really a decision i needed to make at this point so a started stippling the grip to blend the join and stippling over the existing checkering to matchIMG_6891.jpegIMG_6892.jpeg
