Cheap and light 1P tent recommendation

The price is something else. If someone is on a really tight budget this tent might be solid option.
Yeah. My Altaplex is perfect for me, and only 17oz w/10 Nemo Airpin stakes. But it wasn't 56$.

For someone on a budget for a 3-5 day backpack hunt, at it's weight, I'd say this is a great option.

I've never seen it before today, but these might end up as gifts for some kids I know who enjoy the outdoors.

I bet i end up ordering one to try out. The one con I saw in the video was the lack of a bathtub floor.

Nice. Well if you end up getting one let us know what you think about it.

The Stone Glacier Skyair ULT with mesh insert could be good for your needs. I certainly have my gripes with it, but for summer hikes/scouting and early season, I like it alot. Happy to go into more detail if helpful.
These are on sale for 20% off right now.

If you’re under 6ft the Six Moons lunar solo is hard to beat. It’s my go to for the past 4 years when I’m not going floorless. I also have the sky trekker, a bit more difficult to set up but a ton of room in that tent for not much weight.
T2F

I have not personally tried it but reviews and videos of this tent look really good.

1. Cheap 2. Light 3. Durable

You can only pick two of the options above. I highly recommend the Durston xmid. I have had a bit of a shelter obsession and this is my favorite one. It isn’t super expensive and is very high quality.

I recently picked up a X-mid 1, i like the option of going fly-only. Ive seen you can fit 2p under the fly that way.

Fly only is pretty sweet for fall hunts when the ticks aren't bad. I will gladly carry the nest when those little blood suckers are out.

Think I'm going to have a hard time making up my mind between:
Telomat Lashan 3F
Lunar solo six moons design
Big Agnes Fly Creek UL2

Cheap skate in me wants the lashan to work for $150 on Amazon, but I feel like the extra money for the Big Agnes on sale for $280 might be a better investment.

I use the fly creek ul2 for my solo trips.

I love it for how light weight and packable it is, it has handled some pretty gnarly wind and weather in early season alpine, just be aware of how you set it up and where.

The online negative I have is that it’s not a true freestanding tent, but once you guy it out right it is solid.

I ended up ordering one of the lunar solo six moon designs tents on closeout. Should be here soon and I'll set it up, see what I think.

This lunar solo looks pretty nice. I'll have to work on the pitch a little. It was muggy and I didn't feel like redoing it last night. The seam seal service is well done. I'd watched a review where it was kinda sketchy but this one is well done.

What about a mesh nest with tub floor and a tarp? I have a couple SO half nests and was thinking of doing this

Sounds like you’ve watched a few videos, there is one about set up and pitch from SMD with a dude named “All Good” I think. I downloaded that one to my phone for reference on my first few outings with it. Obviously it’s pretty simple, but it’s amazing how fast I can get confused in the dark 😆.

I would definitely take a look at some of the Tarptent single and two person tents. Light, sturdy, and a ton of different options/configurations. Also a smaller company with great customer service in my experience.

Also forgot to mention they have a blem/scratch&dent page where you can get pretty good deals if you keep an eye out.

I just watched that video and he definitely showed me where I screwed up. Good looking out.

I really like this tent other than the tunnel entry. True double wall at 2 lbs, and I’ve used one in up to 40 mph winds without issue. The good definitely outweighs the bad.
