I've always got my Sheep Tarp in my pack. Too many uses for such a small weight and space penalty to leave it at home/camp.

My Tarptent weighs in at about a pound I believe. That and a light weight bivy are about 22 ounces.

a tarp and a puffy orbella jacket can do a lot for sleeping well and confortable despite an emergency situation.
